On page 569 this is mentioned. I don't know if it's been asked or pointed to before, I'm too god damned lazy to search, but...

They are who you think. The intention of the quote is to cover some inconsistencies between SW and some of Erikson's earlier material.

Cute nod, yes. I meant the problems with reconciling religion in Theft as presented in BF with religion in the Fistian subcontinent as presented in SW. They are reconcilable and I don't have a problem with them, but they do appear inconsistancies on a first glance. But there's whole threads out there dedicated to this issue, so I won't say more.
