I think it is possible that the Lady has recruiting powers, but it is far more likely that the Dominator has them. I see the Dominator as close to a classic cult faction, possibly starting with Soulcatcher on his side. The Dominator brought half the taken onto his side while he was still asleep, along with being a force behind the Circle of Eighteen. There are quite a few ways you could shake down things as far as factions go, due to how often people switch sides. I wouldn't be surprised to see some funky recruiting rules either.

I do agree that factions are not likely balanced. Four factions makes the most sense to me, with a small Dominator faction and some unequal splitting of numbers between the rest. Based on the books, if we take Lady and the Taken as a faction they are most likely a fairly small heavily roled faction. But then, for the first book there are really only two factions so we are straying from them a bit already.

Meh, the only definite thing that can be said is that the Dominator's faction has to be small - one or two players IMO.

What's beginning to be agreeable to me is this:

4 factions; Dominator, Lady & Taken, BC, & Rebels. Not sure where WR fits in.

I like the idea that Dom. is 1 person w/ recruiting which someone had above and he would eventually get more powerful, gain abilities, whatever.

I suppose its possible all factions have a recruiting ability, maybe changing sides as a theme is part of the game.


All speculation aside, what is everyone thinking about Day 1 lynches? We still have lots of time, no serious votes, and plenty of people to eye warily.

also, given the caliber of powers the Lady would have, I can't see the Rebellion as having recruiting powers. i just can't see the Circle recruiting one of the Taken, for instance.



i'd guess the Rebel is a bigger faction, but mostly recruitable.

I'm around. As for who to vote for it's been pretty tame so far, even for a Faction game. I think the general lack of knowledge is making people gun-shy, and I'd include myself.

The only votes are the two Korabii on each other, which would be pretty ludicrous signalling. Almost like vote masturbation.

"Hello my pretties," is used by witches. Which would mean the Lady in this case. I doubt Eloth is the Lady (as that would be way too obvious for signalling), but would not be surprised if they were in the Lady's faction.

There are a few incorrect statements about the books floating around, though it is tough to say at this point whether they are intentional or a result of people not having read them recently.

I speculate that there is a good chance the OP is very deliberately vague. It's more fun to stumble about than know exactly what's up.

If I had to wager, I think there could be some roles with either the ability to switch sides, or automatically switch sides if the game progresses in a certain way. This is pure speculation, but the Black Company are a mercenary outfit, right? They start out on one side in the book,but later leave it (I am not an expert on the books, I haven't read them so I'm just using the wiki). The Taken fight amongst themselves and some plot against the Lady despite supposedly being on her side. Some may join the Dominator.

I think we're in for a convoluted game.

Cult always throws winning conditions into the mixer; it just so happens Lizra wants to play into Mafia paranoia, I think, with her lack of info in the game set-up, as well. Which, combined with a material as rich as the Black Company, results in universal confusion.

lots of speculation anyway, but un til we see some cf's its not going to mean very much to us. I would guess the dominator is the recruiter considering his castle grew in power with dead and living people being joined to it. Makes sense that he would win when he his faction reaches a certain proportionate size then, no? also by the op and lizra herself saying so we know the game is centred mostly around book 1 so why people are spoiling later books is beyond me.

my guess - three factions - dominator, lady and rebel.
