I had pages of notes for the possibility of Ben Doran meeting your character. It involved turning his massive mane of red hair into tentacular counter, the complete tearing of reality as we know it and the creation of Satan, to mention some.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one, though my notes were a little more... shorthand than yours.

Something like:

"Strikes fear in the heart of mortal man BUT NOT THE PROUD WARRIORS OF THE SHIMPERIUM
Sea urchin mode
Critical AR burst
Three hatches
Supercharged RC cars with rocket launcher/flamethrower/laser/chainsaws on everything/Shrimp my Ride
RAMMING SPEED"

Such a shame.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I also wanted to finish mine. I never got to write how my char would use liquid nitrogen bullets against Sir Thursday's nanite sandstorm.....

That would've been a helluva lotta fun. :p

I went back and reread the UDIV discussion thread and didn't realise it'd actually gotten to the semifinals, with Morgoth versus Ment and Shin versus me. Something to bear in mind is that this was more than an actual year ago.

Before our posts got nuked I asked why this one won't allow "existing people, religious/film/book/poetry/folk tale characters" unlike previous ones and just how far does that go? Would Morgoth and Ben Doran from UDM IV have counted as "existing people"?

Mainly because I wanted orginal weird stuff and give the religious amongst us the guarantee to not have to face Jesus :p
I'd be OK with the Ben Doran & Morghy thing, personally.

Well, I wanted to use a real person, but it'd be pretty much only the same person in name only. For example, imagine using Steve Jobs as a character. You could build a character and theme your posts with the mac-hype style, but it's not like the magic superhuman who forces his opponents to agree to extremely long and specific codes of conduct before each match would really be the same as the real Steve Jobs.

Oh, and JA owes us an epilogue:

"So I won?" Duke asked, repeatedly spitting mouthfuls of blood and yellow phlegm on the ground.

"Yes."

"Good. I need to get this taste out of my mouth, and I'm all out of gum." He looked at the Hildes. "Fancy a date with the Duke, babes?"

"When Duke Nukem Forever is released," the golden armored one promised. The other three giggled maliciously. Hell would probably freeze overbefore that. She turned to Violence. "What are your plans, darling?"

Well, that epilogue'd better be more awesome than the game.

Sign ups are closed, a bit later than I intended. Twelve contestants, which is going to give a slight problem in the quarter finals where we should have 4 but either have 3 or 6. We could do a first round consisting of 4 fights with 3 participants, instead, only the winners advancing?

An easier way would surely be to let the loser with the most votes go on to the semi?

That's a far better option, yeah. I'm getting dumb in my old age.

Oh yeah, this thing... I should really start working on this

---

edit: since we have 12 people and that's a gross number, shouldn't we leave sign-ups open anyways and try to get some last minuters in before the deadline, trying to get closer to 16? Someone could write an intro post in 10 days if they put their mind to it!

any idea on the timewindow us spectators get to pass in our vote?

Or will it be a matter of whomever gets X amount of votes first carries on to the next round?

Tapper may have different rules in mind for this one, but in UDM 4 I believe we only counted the votes of the other participants (so join quick and you too can vote!). As far as starting opponents, I think we voted on the best character intros and the results matched us up the same as they would in a sports play-off.

Also, question for Tapper - are we good to post intros? Mine'll be done soon.

I'll give it a shot at D'rek's insistence.
