I know what the rules said, and I think I have wrapped my head around the scene. I'm still not going to speculate on winning conditions for any faction, especially since I don't know any but the ones I was given. Either my speculation would be way off, and those people would know I am not on their team, or it is way too correct and they vote me off for being dumb. Unless it gets down to very close to WCS cult win time, there is absolutely no reason to talk about winning conditions, which is a huge 'why' at Tiam.

And Fener was pissy about it yesterday, but it got people talking. As of yet, I don't see much at all that Serc has said... Fener is at around 50 posts. Should he have five times the posts of someone else, on the second day of the game, without a lot of spam? I don't think so.

Suggesting a discussion to tease out winning conditions is going to make everyone clam up about them. You would have had better luck if you'd just tried to start such a conversation without prefacing it

With four factions and many of them on seeming friendly terms (ie the UMPC work for the UMC, the Trumpets are sent by the UMPC, the UMC trade resources with the Amnion), I wonder if this isn't a Locke Lamora-style faction circle, with each faction trying to eliminate the one ahead of it. I guess the order would go something like UMPC >> Amnion >> Trumpets >> UMC >> UMPC, with each trying to wipe out the faction to the right of it. That's entirely speculation on my part, though.

This pinged my radar quite a bit. i certainly cant speak to anyone off thread, and know nothing about any other faction beyond guesswork. The mods arent giving us any info on or off thread - so saying that people discussing factions on thread is an intentional ploy has me thinking you are very well informed.

No, I'm very badly informed and the first thing I did was send PS a whole long list of questions. Of course they were all ignored, but I wouldn't reveal the slightest part of what I do or do not know on thread unless I deliberately wanted to (attempt to) appear in a certain faction. Which is what made me a little bit uncomfortable with some of the players were doing yesterday and again with what Tiamatha is doing now.

If they were ignored then why do you find it odd that others asked questions on thread? Its a four way faction game with no clear winning conditions and very quiet mods. The op makes it pretty clear, but certain players have indicated they didnt read it for fear of spoiling the books.

Because I didn't remember any of those people stating they weren't going to read the OP - As far as I can remember it's only Fener who has said as much. Like I explained earlier I find it out that anyone would want to make known what their level of ignorance is. Maybe they are generally ignorant, but saying 'I don't know anything about faction x', icould just as easily be an attempt to hint what faction you're in (silly when we've been told everyone has different role PMs), or an attempt to blend based on what is in the OP. If the mods have decided there is certain information that doesn't concern you, I doubt anyone will just put that same information out on thread.

Yeah, kinda seems like Tiam is making a stupid move here, isn't it? If he's UMC or UMPC, then why bring them up when they're not even being discussed. If he's cult or trumpet, well he just made himself look like he's either cult or trumpet and we're bound to try and wipe out the cult and/or beat on the trumpets while they're down anyways, so not helping himself there.

It is, however, possible that he is UMC or UMPC and knows something the rest of us don't know that has poked him into trying to learn more about the other UM(P)C faction that he is not in.

If you think my discussion gave you a clue as to my faction then feel free to make a case based on it if you think i am in a rival faction to yourself. I myself am not worried about discussing things on thread. Tiam ignored two teams in such a way that it was clear he had no idea about anything to do with them (clearly didnt read the op) and was therefore either lying or is genuinely not in them. By calling them out on it straight away and avoiding all discussion its therefore just as likely barghast is umc or umpc which is equally bad play imo.

A lot of feners posts where because of the arguing yesterday.

My fear is that he is Amnion and trying to look like a trumpet. The rest of us won't be too worried about trumpet right now, since they are down 2 players, and it might be a good place for a cult to try and hide. Of course, you must take my thoughts with a grain of salt since Tiam is apparently trying to deflect onto me.

I dont get this vote, its clear if a player thinks speculating is bad play and states numerous times about it that they wouldnt do it. Had he speculated yesterday, the inconsistency against todays play would have made him a good vote but he is sort of towing a line about winning conditions etc.

Well you were quite vague about what you thought the VC's were, and Anomandaris was a little more definitive. I mantain that discussing VC's this early in the game is foolish and I will not play. You have just called out Barghast as UMC or UMCP because he knew that Tiam was incorrect or just plain ignored two teams. Knowing that Barghast is right would mean that you are also on one of the said teams. WIFOM anyone?

I know they were, but he was participating. The game doesn't begin until everyone is at least participating, which can be frustrating with extremely low posters while we are halfway through day two. I agree with Fener that I would rather lynch someone because of what they said on thread, but what do we do when people wont participate? Give them a free ride? That leads to low-posters cruising to victory because people forget all about them.
