Mafia 74 GAP into ruin

I'm off for dinner. I agree that Merrid is the only option for a lynch right now. So
vote Merrid.
@Kalse: To wait for someone to get recruited tonight doesn't seem to help the issue, imho. Cult gains one member more and we haven't even tried to stop them if we don't lynch.

True, but I can't help but feel like we're being herded. Something about Eloth and Fener's arguing for all these pages ... and then they both wind up taking the same action.

I feel like this too. Fener was so vehement and then changed their mind anyway.

The only faction that can possibly benefit from a Day One random lynch is the smallest, who have the most chipping away to do at their opponent's numbers, and are the least likely to get hit by that random Day One lynch. The smallest is most likely to be cult, who also have the long-term advantage of being able to increase their numbers.
A Day 1 lynch in a cult game should be based on someone slipping up. Which no-one has done.
Well, technically, even if there are only 2 cult, we still have better than a %10 chance of hitting one of them. It's not impossible for the other factions to benefit, just unlikely. Granted, it's true that that percentage will go up dramatically by the next day, but even then a 1 in 4 chance isn't all that great. Some of the only hard info we get is the CF and lynch train, which I don't think can be discounted. Going into day 2 just as blind as when we started doesn't seem like the best option... and how often does someone "slip up" on day 1 anyway? Noobs voting night doesn't count.
I can understand your caution but it almost sounds like you think we should wait to vote until the cult jump out from behind a bush and announce themselves....
edit - "scum" to "cult"

Hmmm, interesting. I agree that this is suspicious behavior, but if we let the lynch on Merrid stall, how can we even know whether Fener and Eloth were herding us or not? Seems like we lose the ability to confirm or press them for more info if there's no lynch.

For now I feel like the lynch is going to give us more info than letting it stall out... I hope.

Fener changed his vote in post #146, for no hard reason ... Eloth changed his in #157, giving the "we have to lynch everyday" argument, which I've already explained why I don't like for Day 1 in this case.

All is not well on the Trumpet as it speeds out of Amnion Space. The crew members, struck paranoid by fear of Amnion experiments begin searching for tell tell signs of Amnion Subversion. One crew member, Vector, working devoutly to find a cure for the Amnion genetic conversion weaponry, spends far to much time on his own. Just as he makes a huge break through, creating a Pill that blocks the Amnion conversion the rest of the crew turn upon the lone scientist, tearing him apart limb from limb. The secret genetic blocker is lost forever.
Merrid was lynched. he was Vector Shaheed and MTS, on the Trumpet

Well that was fun reading. Nothing like a heated discussion on the differences of day one lynches to get a lynch. I found the discussion more interesting then the train. It seemed that the perceived connection between fener and merrid was pretty minimal. I actually found eloths and Alkends combine drive to have more in common.
I guess we are waiting on the nights resolution. Oh well.
