We might as well just get it all out in the open. The test isn't perfect, it sucks at contextualisation, but let's sate my morbid curiosity and see where we are at.

Where are you on the political spectrum?

I'll start

http://www.political...10.00&soc=-9.49

Economic = -10.00
Social = -9.49

No surprise there, this hasn't changed beyond .25 of a point for about 4 years.

I believe we have had one of these before. It appears that I am the re-incarnation of the Dalai Lama:

It's not a great test. The questions are leading at some time. Other times they are just stupid in their formulation. I suspect I should be far further up the scale towards authoritarian. It seems the test equates a belief in a free society and personal responsibility as you being against the Government. I'm not. I suspect the test is squewed to think that America's Government is the basis of all Western governments.

EDIT: It would be cool to see everyones score put on the same chart.

Agreed. It's also worth noting that usually people talk more left wing than they actually are. Also, it's worth knowing that this is a UK based test, rather than US based.

My score is probably spot on though.

Once we get a fair few results it shouldn't be hard to make a graph on a spreadsheet which I can edit up onto the OP.

I'm sure this has been done on the forum before, but anyway.

Economic -8.12

Social libertarian/ authoritarian -6.26

Age and children appear to have hardened my social stance somewhat, but I'm still more enlightened than that nazi fuck Dalai lama :)

Look at Apt's chart, move the dot just very slightly up and to the right, so that it's on the next grid intersection.

That's me, that is.

I hate that test - mostly because there are things on there which I don't think are mutually exclusive - I'm forced to make choices I don't actually believe.

Here's me.
Economic Left/Right: 3.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.15

Much more liberal than I expected with the way some of those questions were worded

So moderately left (but right when compared to the lot of you), and about halfway libertarian. Kinda fits the picture I have of myself.
I do agree with Shin: many things you are asked to take a stand on, especially on the economics page, are not mutually exclusive. I believe in public healthcare (and forced insurance), but I also have no beef whatsoever with private clinics for those who want and to can afford them as a useful auxiliary on the bylines.
Moreover, I tend to not cross "Strongly (Dis)agree" on anything but moral values regarding sex, religion and education.

I'm kinda surprised I'm not further right, but maybe that's down to the wording of the questions.

Page 3 onward has quite a few others on this scale, prior to that, it's still interesting.

I'm at the bottom left corner.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
