Holy shit that reference at the end of this week's Tonegawa had me choking trying not to laugh, given that it was 5:30 and my wife was very much asleep.

That name you mentioned in tags just appeared in txt on Ep 5. El-Melloi II

And that person matches that other person I now see.

Ah, I didn't remember that his name popped up. Yeah, so there you go. He went back to the Tower and is kind of sort of a big-wig there now, though in anime terms that just means he pops up in the epilogues of shows whenever someone winds up at the Tower until Lord El-Melloi's Case Files inevitably gets an adaptation.

Ootsuki walks past the guy he's bonded with on day release after being very melancholy that they probably won't meet again. When they realise who the other is, direct reference to Your Name. Brilliant. It's literally the artwork from that film.

I need to finish Apocryhpha and Last Encore. Got halfway through each and hadn't finished.

Did you guys have a look at ZombieLand Saga?

I think it's the strangest thing I have yet enjoyed this year.

Still early days but the morbid humor has been...refreshing.

I am now. First couple episodes were amaaaaazing. Next couple maybe not quite as non-stop hilarious but still excellent.

So whats the buzz with zombieland saga about? I saw that one scene from ep1 and im like... this is dumb lol.

Finally back home for a bit as i've been crazy busy. New job and went to youmacon in detroit.

So i've been watching a few things last little bit.

Finally got around to watching the latest season of full metal panic. OMG it was AMAZING!!! I had no idea this show was shaping up into this. Id watched the original FMP back when i was a teenager (different time my god) so i rewatched TSR and decide to head into s3. Im pleasently impressed with the direction of the show, the manner in which the stakes where raised and how the characters have growned and developed. I really hope we get s4 cause i wanna see awkward asf Sagara with Badass Chidori.

Watched Goblin slayer. Mother's Basement had a good video on the topic of the ep 1 so won't waste time with that. But im enjoying its take on DnD stuff. If you're willing to look past the freqent T/A its quite enjoyable.

Watching the new SAO series. Not enjoying this as much as the Gun Gale online one we had recently but its entertaining at least?

New Jojo is out. AND ITS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I skipped s4 but now that we're in s5 this stuff is good. Shows going back to its roots which i enjoy.

And that pretty much sums up what i've up too.

And now im reminded i need to wrap up monster

It's sort of experiencing a typical lul right now. like the great worm says the first two episodes were REALLY good but now there's some drama hitting the breeze and its...a bit flimsy? Hopefully the funny returns, this last episode was a genuine downer. Not bad but I was hoping for less drama from this one.

Yeah. The first 2 episodes are like the show is pretending to be an idol show but not actually and deriving its big jokes from how it isn't an idol show at all. But then episode 3 onwards is like it is actually trying to be an idol show, albeit still a silly slapstick one. Personally, I preferred the former.

What trickery is this!

D'rek! We have been Fooled! Bamboozled!

It is an idol show with bad CG dancing and everything!

Somehow I was invested.

The lightning striking them giving them autotuned voices was kinda funny. For, like... 10 seconds. Too bad they had to actually go and sing two entire songs with nothing of interest in them aside from that moment. Snoooore.

The idol songs are good. Helps that I have a genuine enjoyment of idol bands on the whole.

Goblin Slayer was predictably brutal. I'm enjoying this one a lot.

JoJo - ayyyy, it's the Gang-Star Dance. And it didn't even go CG.

CAUSE I CAN'T GET OVER HOW WTF THIS IS!!!!

Also real talk, Golden Kamuy is major flying under the radar and its quite underated. The last few episodes have been pretty interesting delving into character backstories that weren't hinted at in the slightest, but make a lot of sense in the context of the character.

Every character has a decent amount of nuance to them and im loving the interactions. Its also really cool learning about Old Skool ainu culture.

The easy answer is 'because it's JoJo'. It's not JoJo's Ordinary Adventure. I read it as - they're a tight knit gang, so when the others cotton onto to Narancia's dancing, they just join in because they're a band of brothers. It doesn't need in-depth analysis at all.

Kamuy S2 has had a few slow episodes. Still, Dick-sensei is back which is always good. It's still enjoyable overall.

Bunny Senpai continues to explore oddly nuanced existential crises. For me it's probably the most underrated show this season.

Two things today:

1) Oh god, Zombie Land Saga brought an unexpected feels train this week. I didn't see that coming at all.

2) Has anyone kept up on what's happened with 'My Sister, My Writer'? J-List did an article on it. The animation has been jank throughout (and not purposefully jank like KonoSuba), culminating in last week's episode having a message stating 'we're in trouble and need help' being added in by the animators. There's no episode this week.

It did indeed.

But also... hey, maybe the traumatized 10 year-old who clearly needs affection and therapy could go back and live with their reformed, loving parent? Naaaaah, let's just write a new song and everything will be magically better! Hurray for idol-show logic ;)

Not to sound capricious, but... good? Every season has at least a couple of shows that fall into production hell like this. The industry is oversaturated and studio staff are undervalued, nothing new there. But of all the shows to be collapsing, I'd rather it be the incest-bait show than anything else.

So i finally finished Sakura quest in english dub. This was done extremely well. Perhaps the best dub i’ve watched in years. The story also might be the most mature and compelling argument for a small-town culture I have yet seen in animated format? But then again my slice of life knowledge is pretty weak. Being off Wifi for a bit means I’ll need to look up old school gems now.

I’ll be looking up your past recommendations for finished shows. Should be tons of fun. I look forward to it.

I will add I will miss Ssss Gridman the most this season. Mecha is slowly making a comeback...

I wasn't interested in Gridman so haven't bothered with it. Sakura Quest was my top anime of last year, though. Really great show. Hard to say right now what my top show this year will be. This season it'll probably be Bunny Senpai.

Yeah it was pretty good this week!

I've noticed delays with the Sunday uploads. Ulysses hasn't updated at all (usually it's done Sunday evening). Something going on over in the Oneeland?
