Up to ep3 so far, watching it on netflix and i have to say I am enjoying the french dub. Never watched a french dub so far and its quite good (also you do get annoyed at hearing the same voices in anime as while the VA market in the USA isn't large, the japanese one, not that much so.

Have they even announced a Canadian release date for M&tWF (aside from the Vancouver festival event) yet?

I thought it would be the same as the States, which was Jan 26th or something...At least in Toronto. But nada. And I mean even if it's later in the year we should see SOME kind of date, but it's not even listed on the Cineplex site as coming soon.

Looks like the licensor/release companies are GKids and Fathom this time. Fathom is seemingly owned/controlled by AMC Theatres, who don't care about Canada... so maybe it's not coming to Canada at all?

UPDATE: Cineplex updated their site. Release date in Canada now set for February 28th for Theatrical!

Ah. There.

Yeah, it's pretty unexpected and heavy, huh? Definitely took me by complete surprise, too, and I imagine the same for just about everyone else. Just goes to show how well Gurren Lagann can change tones sometimes, and just because it's utterly ridiculous and a love letter to the old ultra-energetic mecha shows doesn't mean it will be all happy-go-lucky plot armour.

Keep going, the ride's just beginning!!!

Oh, then not at the end then? oh yeah, that part sucked. I shed a tear, a manly one. Things pick up nicely after. I mean they REALLY pick up.

You're gonna love where things go T'rav!

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it was what the story and characters needed being that the entire theme of the show is individual growth. But it was still painful to watch those events unfold!

I don't think it was painful at all. I think they handled and resolved it as best as could be hoped for! And Mari's little whisper at the end was heartwarming :(
