So new season of anime is upon us soon.

Seems like there is a lot to choose from this time around. Kinda shocking.

Attack on titan season 2
Shingeki no bahamut season 2

Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho: curious as to where this ones going kinda reminded of spice and wolf

Clockwork Planet:gona give this 1-2 episodes see what it does with the premise

Sakurada Reset: Cool concept, curious where this goes.

Re:Creators:Interesting premise i think this is gona be the gem in the rough this season.

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?: seems like a heart warming show.

Seikaisuru Kado: cool premise, i want to know where it goes

Quan Zhi Gao Shou:ill give it 1-2 episodes

Warau Salesman New:Faust the anime? sign me up

in other news, overlord got a second season announced. Not sure what is worse, the facts theres a market for the show, or the fact im curious about it...

@mark: hellsing tv show was ok. The second half of the show is where it diverges from the manga and just becomes weird.

Op and Ed were good though.

Yeah, I'm watching Ultimate now and I'm not liking the general lack of character development to be honest - and it has the exact same problem Drifters did - the random, unwelcome sharkface moments.

I'm pretty hype for AoT season 2.Also, DanMachi SO is probably the closest I'll get to DM season 2 so I'll take that. Berserk season 2 as well.

Beyond those, I've not got anything concrete lined up. I'll see what comes out and if anything catches my fancy.

Weekly roundup:

KonoSuba ended on a pretty good note. Lots of action in the episode, not as many jokes as we're used to but it was a worthwhile trade. Here's hoping we get a third season; it's certainly popular enough.

Tanya - Another good episode, lots of setup for next week. I'm guessing it's a 12-ep season because of where this week's ended at.

MKDM - There were quite a lot of laugh out loud moments with this. No real focus on one particular character either which was nice.

Gabriel - A setup episode. Tonight's one, if the setup can be followed through on, should be pretty chaotic.

KNH - I wasn't really expecting a Mugi episode but there it is. It was good to get as much perspective from Akane that we did as well. I'm wondering where we're leading to, though...

Thanks. I'm guessing the other platforms will do the same since the other ones cover areas with more variable DST observation, and they have even more reason to stay locked to JST. Just wanted to check with people who watch a lot of anime before putting r/dbz on notice.

Speaking of which, what did you think of the last few episodes?

I kinda like the "reversal of the usual" thing they're doing with the universes casting Goku as the bad guy, especially shown through Toppo... but Goku being just like "k, whatever, I don't care, let's fight" kinda deflates the whole idea. I liked the fights with Universe 9, but Toppo's was pretty silly/dull IMO. I really do like how the final battle is going to be a royal rumble instead of 1-on-1s, that's a great way to mix-it-up from the repeated-1-on-1 tournament formats they've done in the past.

It even had a few moments of great animation/effects, too!

I heard it is going to be a split cour, so next week will be the pseudo mid-season finale, then it breaks for the summer and returns in the fall. Not 100% sure that that is accurate, though.

Good episode and a fun cliffhanger. Being X hasn't been around in a while... I'm guessing it brought the Americans in.

I don't really "get" Mugi. When I saw it was a Mugi episode I thought they'd delve deeply into his thought process and why/how he thinks he can change Akane, since that was his big surprise from the previous episode, but they... didn't? It was interesting to see things from his perspective, sure, but I still don't really understand it.

Where are we heading? Hopefully Hana realizing she's lost everyone, saying f%$@ it I don't need those twerps and being happy with herself :p Yeah, that'll never happen.

Eugh... really? That is pretty sad.

Even from the people who are big fans of the light novels, they all say it takes like 6 volumes before it gets really interesting. Another season, even 3 more seasons, is not going to be interesting in the slightest.

Attack on titan season 2 At Laaaaast!
Shingeki no bahamut season 2 Must Watch

Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho: curious as to where this ones going kinda reminded of spice and wolf
Doesn't sound very interesting to me

Clockwork Planet:gona give this 1-2 episodes see what it does with the premise
Sounds like another Dimesion W. I'm going to skip, but will be curious to hear your thoughts after the first couple episodes

Sakurada Reset: Cool concept, curious where this goes.
Me too. Personally I hope it stays relatively "grounded" and sedate

Re:Creators:Interesting premise i think this is gona be the gem in the rough this season.
Hard to imagine how they will even do this premise and it not feel full of plot holes, but we'll see! I agree it's definitely worth checking out. Same director as Fate/Zero, too.

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?: seems like a heart warming show.
Maybe... or it might just be a generic fantasy harem action show... we'll see

Seikaisuru Kado: cool premise, i want to know where it goes
Total unknown at this point. Could be good.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou:ill give it 1-2 episodes
IIRC this is a chinese animation series, or at least the studio making it is Chinese. Be interesting to see how it compares.

Warau Salesman New:Faust the anime? sign me up
This sounds awesome!

Added my own thoughts above^^

I'm also interested in:

My Hero Academia - First season was fun and occasionally great, I'll definitely tune in for a second one.

MORE Nobunaga Shinobi chibi sengoku ninja antics!

Sakura Quest - 5 young women, working in a niche industry, made by PA Works. So, basically Shirobako v2??!!!

Granblue - I have no expectations for this, but worth checking out just because it's set in a world of floating islands and people ride flying lizards

Tsuki ga Kirei - Original romance series. Same writer as Kids on the Slope... but also the same writer as Orange. Will check out the first few episodes at least.

Kenka Bancho Otome - I kind of like the premise, depending on where it goes.

Atom:The Beginning - Some sort of AstroBoy prequel/spin-off??

As long as we don't see Hana sail off into the sunset cuddling Mugi's head, I can live with it.

And Tanya might do that? Bloody nora. I don't like being teased so!

Weekly round up:

KonoSuba: Oh wait, there was no KonoSuba.

Posted Image

Tanya: Good episode, a little anticlimactic but I like that they had a hard battle before a minor lull. Next week should be pretty explosive.

Scum's Wish took an unexpected turn, but I can't help but feel that it's going towards a slightly unpleasant ending. It won't be as bad as School Days but I'm wondering if Mugi is about to throw himself off of a building.

MKDM: Pleasant enough, slow going, not as good as last week, hopefully the ending this week coming will be better.

GDO: I'm not sure why this episode started as it did - I was expecting some 'sneaking Satania the dankest meme queen into heaven shenanigans' but there we go. Some nice character development for her, I am wondering how they're going to end this one though.

Honestly i dont really know how Re: Creators will translate. Its pretty ambitious in its task and even if it turns out incredible theres always a deeper potential to the premise, i do like the team behind it. Music alone by Sawano Hiroyuki is enough to grab my attention. I'll also be watching to see where it goes.

Then im thinking:

Gran blue sounds fun

Love tyrant has some great comic potential

As does Love kome: we love rice.

Clockwork planet is my pick for the dark horse in the race. Another stellar team involved there.

Scared to invest in Boruto as i have been with dbz super. Not sure i can follow. Naruto ended well enough for me. Still i'll give a few eps a watch.

My hero academia season 2 is the main watch for me this season.

AoT looks good and im excited for it as i am for bahamut buuuut i might leave these for binge watching close to seasons end, depends on how the other shows go. I HATE waiting a week for AoT cliffhangers hence my approach.

Still enjoying The Irregular. Only on ep 7 though.

it only gets worse

He becomes literal Jesus by the end of season 1.

So I<ve started watching a few other things

Kono Suba: watched up to ep4. Can see the appeal of this show. Unsure if i should continue as humor is very hit or miss for me.

Jojo: Mostly done season 1 of stardust crusaders. So far, Jojos part 2 remains my favourite with sleight of hand being so important in all the fights.

Stardust Crusaders is great. That said, Part 2 Joseph is the best JoJo. SHIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

KonoSuba is worth carrying on imo.It goes from strength to strength.

First episode of Granblue is out and it is beautifuly animated. Grimgar level fluidity although not as realistic and natural.

Not familiar with the game but the anime seems a bit literal, it plays out like a game, half the time i almost expect Final fantasy music when the fightings done.

Still its not bad. I like the small touches, subtle expressions, the detailed armour, decent opening and ending.

Yeah its not bad as far as video game adaptations go.

Eugh, Masamune-kun's Revenge had one of the worst last episodes I've ever seen in anime. Totally stupid.

Done with Scum's Wish and Tanya the Evil. Tanya's ending was really good. The combat scenes in episode 11 were great, and the futility/consequences of the ending is a good note to finish on. There was some news about a second season possibly having been confirmed already, but even if not I think it ended pretty good. Scum's Wish, yeah probably ended as well as it could have. Is it just me though or does the way things get tied up lack a sense of both climax and closure for the series?

Caught the first episode of Hero Academia season 2 - eh, it was alright but not much really happened... felt like 80% recap/flashback.

Also watched the first episode of Attack on Titan season 2 AND HOLY SHITSNACKS!!!!. I did NOT expect things to go that topsy turvy so quickly. An excellent reminder of how unrelenting this show can be, and why that drew people in so much in the first place! Consider me re-hooked!

I almost feel bad that this is only a 12-episode season 2 now.

Yeah, AOT S2E1 managed to stay true to the manga, whilst also reworking the timeline of what's going on (the manga is very much a straight timeline for this episode, whereas the episode jumped around a bit). It will get much more topsy turvy, trust me. If it's only a 12 ep season... Well, that sucks, but I can guess which point it'll end at.

RE: Scum's Wish: To an extent. I think that
Spoiler
.

RE: Tanya aye, it ended well. Who could possibly dislike Platinum the Trinity tilting her head back and proclaiming her outright disdain for the gods, for Being X, all with that endearingly crazy look on her face? Not I.

Kobayashi has one episode left; last week's was good, a little filler, but this one seems like there'll be a sense of closure to the series.

GDO ended pretty well. The storyline with Gab's sister was kind of rushed through, but the final scene was perfect. I'll miss this series, it was fun.

Plot-wise, yeah I think it went the right direction, but execution-wise I disliked it. Hana barely had any screentime in the last couple episodes, and her final run-ins with Moca, Echan, etc were pretty lacklustre.

Tanya the Evil was a great show. I really hope we get a season 2.

So decided to watch ep1 of warau salesmans. Its not bad but i don't think the premise is enough to justify an entire anime unless it goes somewhere. Give it 1-2 more episodes

Also, going to see Your Name in-theatre this weekend!

So ive managed to catch a few episodes of what I was planning to watch

AOT season 2: loving it so far

Rage of the bahamut: Guarantees to be a blast.

seikaisuru-kado: Brilliant first episode thus far, i think this show will be my favourite. Reminds me of arrival in terms of setting.

AoT S2E2: This matched up with the manga nicely, especially around the Sasha focus.

Berserk S2 started last week and crunchyroll didn't bloody tell me. Irritated! Episode 1 of season 2 was good though. A parental warning has been added to this one for being so violent as well, I laughed.

I'm at a little bit of a loss for what else to watch this season. I tried Granblue, but after the intro scene and opening credits, the video is so janky as to be totally unwatchable, which irked me immensely. Nothing else has really caught my eye yet.

I've finally got proper internet available at my house, so I'm about to start working through a bunch of stuff I was meaning to watch. Some of them I've forgotten so I'll have to work back through this thread at some point too to try and remember what I wanted to check out.
In the meantime though, I've started watching the first season of KonoSuba, slightly over halfway through already, and I'm enjoying it well enough.

Super jealous of LP and D'rek getting to see Your Name - it's not on in cinemas here any more and I want to watch it again! Hopefully they release the DVD soon....

And I'm going to have to juggle catching up on all this anime with my Netflix back catalog as well. *sigh*
