And again (you lot are slacking eh):
This week's KonoSuba had me in stitches from the get-go. Episodes focusing on Kazuma and Darkness are always a good bet. It dropped off a little towards the end of the episode but overall one of the highlights of season 2.
Tanya got moralistic with questions about warfare involving civilians. I always enjoy scenes where characters become conflicted and this one pulled it off pretty well.
Miss Kobayashi was OK. A few funny moments but not as good as last week. Remains to be seen if the new character ups the humour level. The scenes with Lucoa were a bit gratuitous, even by my standards.
I also checked out episode one of Gabriel Dropout. It seems fun so I'll give it a proper look soon.

So i decided to try the remake of the jojo series (jojos bizarre adventure) since i only know of this show through memes figured i'd give it a go.
7 episodes in, liking the show so far.
Things I like
DIO as the personification of evil: From the get go they do a fantastic job of selling dio as a force of evil type of villain.
Characters: They all have this larger than life quality to them which makes them an interesting bunch. theres a certain nobility to the character i find charming. (though on the flip side, this could seem cliched, but i think its executed well enough that it doesn't come across as cliched to me)
Ending theme intro.
You get this in the full version but the way the ed theme builds slowly while the scene is coming to an end which then transition into a "to be continued crescendo". 0-1min (just not big on the vocalist, punky rock vocals not my thing))
thing not to big on: Jojo is kinda too perfect, too nice, though im told the cast is varied and plenty so looking to see how this changes.

JoJo is great. Jonathan is, as you say, way too white knight, but in the next three parts the different JoJos take on different personalities. Joseph is a bit wacky and somewhat selfish, Jotaro is an asshole, and Josuke is just a bit of an idiot teenager.
Also: HEY, BABY!
On my side, I finished Chain Chronicle yesterday. Decent enough ending, didn't quite live up to the rest of the series, but was entirely predictable.

Weekly roundup.
KonoSuba seems to be losing a bit of steam this season. Whilst this week had enough moments to keep it entertaining, it felt like a weak episode overall. Hopefully next week will pick up a little.
Tanya was a good episode, a little lighter on action than usual but it feels like a setup for next week which is looking to be pretty explosive. Decent enough.
MKDM changed gears and had an episode almost entirely focused on Kanna. What I liked about this is that whilst on first glance people might see it as some sort of harem anime, only one character is interested in the MC like that, the rest view her as an acquaintance (or in Kanna's case a mother-figure). I still felt like Lucoa was only in it for her plot this week though, which was a bit disappointing. The Elma sections were funny enough, at least.
I'm up to episode 6 of Gabriel DropOut, it continues to deliver, though some of the jokes are getting a little stale (namely around Satania trying to be diabolical and failing). I also finally started on Scum's Wish, up to episode 3, will watch another 3-4 today. Very enjoyable for someone who likes their psychological torment.

Honestly, I don't find the "main" jokes of KonoSuba that funny on their own, so yeah an episode like this where they're just devoting a ton of time to showing Aqua being crazy-selfish/self-absorbed and it going wrong for her isn't that great and something we've already seen before like a dozen times. Last week was good because it was a new situation with new jokes, though even then it almost repeated itself too much.
But yeah, next week is the last episode I think, so hopefully it'll be a big finish.

Yup!
Anyone else feel like Tanya was a little too morally ambivalent about the whole civilians massacre thing? I get the legalese justification thing, but I wasn't expecting her to be so dispassionate about it in her own head, too.

I've been eyeing Garbrial Drop-out and Kobayashi, but haven't tried either of them yet. They seem like pretty average SoL-Comedy shows. Is there anything particularly special about either that I'm missing out on?

Not really, she used to work in HR after all...
(I work for an HR firm, this is part of the reason i enjoy this so much)

Ehm, probably not. They're fun, easy watches that probably also demonstrate that I'm easily pleased. I think for me, the fact Gabriel falls to online gaming and all the traps associated with it spoke to me on a personal level.
I'm also caught up on Scum's Wish as of Sunday (binged it didn't I). It led me to School Days and wellp, I didn't quite see THAT coming. Nice boat, though. It does make me wonder if someone in SW is going to snap at some point.
RE Tanya: Nah, it fit the character. As a salaryman in HR she didn't give two shits about the people, only the results and the net benefit at the end for her.

I don't know if I'm ready to accept yet that "firing" people (from their job) and "firing" people (with artillery shells) are morally equivalent.

To be fair they kinda demonstrated the characters lack of empathy repeatedly.

I have not watched this show, but all I can say is... *of course* they're morally equivalent! Pretty sure HR folks would prefer doing the latter to carry out the former, too. XD

The easy summary of Tanya is: "What if Catbert was a magical loli in world war I?". The whole thing with the character is that she has no empathy for anyone else, and will do anything if it benefits her. Also I can't not see her as Platinum now after finding out her VA is Yuuki Aoi.

Aha. I may have to check it out when my internet is connected.
In other news, I'm undecided whether to go see Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale at the cinema. Honestly I'm not sure it will be any good, but it will be free. And I'm going to see it eventually.
Then again, I could use my free ticket on Kong or Logan... Hmm...

I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard from acquaintances and the general consensus amongst reviewers that I trust is that it's the best of SAO, but still fundamentally SAO. The premise, plot, character development (or lack thereof), occasional blatant fan-service, etc, are not any different from previous SAO chapters, there's nothing really "new" that it is doing differently from the rest of the franchise... but what is there is a bit better-executed than any of the previous chapters.

Yo, D'rek. What's the release schedule for Scum's Wish? I'm guessing it updates on a Friday or Saturday?
Anyway I finally got around to watching Hellsing. I find myself liking Seras a great deal. She reminds me a lot of my own Kaenna (though far less prone to violent psychosis). Overall I'm rather enjoying this.

@D'rek - ah, cool. I figured it could either be more polished than usual or an utter train wreck. XD

Does anyone here know how DST affects simulcasts, since Japan doesn't observe DST? Does the simulcast time always stay the same relative to JST? (i.e. an hour later in DST-observing time zones?)

I don't know about the other platforms but Funimation keeps their shows locked to the airing time in Japan. So when DST comes around their airing schedule shifts by an hour.

Thanks. I'm guessing the other platforms will do the same since the other ones cover areas with more variable DST observation, and they have even more reason to stay locked to JST. Just wanted to check with people who watch a lot of anime before putting r/dbz on notice.

Dang, the place I've been seeing it doesn't have it. Is it on Netflix? I have access to that (but haven't used it for a while, it's the Mrs' account). It's not on Crunchyroll EU (which is actually inconsistent between platforms - something I can watch on my XBOne isn't available on the PS4 for example).
