When Crokus sets moby down and they leave, moby goes back to the giant suit of armor. It then tells him he's glad for moby's company even though he left a mess on the floor lol. Who is in there with him ? Is that Icariums dad ? I wasn't sure

We don't know who or what it is. It may have been some kind of possessed armor. A spirit housed inside a suit. We see similar armors lying or standing in other houses.

Since it says "Tremerlor welcomes you with all it's heart", I got the idea that it was an avatar of the Azath.

Which has implications; the Azath are sentient? At least perhaps, the very old ones are?

Pretty sure it was just a nameless guardian. That said, I haven't read Deadhouse Gates in over a year so don't quote me on that. In any case, it's only a minor detail.
Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem.

Si hoc adfixum in obice legere potes, et liberaliter educatus et nimis propinquus ades.

There's another one of them inside the Deadhouse in Malaz City too, so they seem to be common enough. Maybe an Azath needs to inhabitants - one to manifest it's spirit and one to be it's guardian? Don't know.
