I've just recently finished reading stonewielder and started reading the Bauchelain and Korbal Broach short stories. The first one i notice that it takes place in the same continent (on the island of Fist) and oddly enough magic isnt as restrictive as it is in stonewielder. There are several minor mages/witche with different warrens and knowledge of those warrens is very common. (a tower was inhabited by a necromancer who raised a lich and some shades for example). Yet in stonewielder we were told you needed to go to great lenghts to use any warren other than ruse.

Also in terms of timing it is sometime between stonewielder and greymane's original invasion.

Is this an oversight by the authors or am i missing something?

Maybe the Theftian Peninsula, where blood follows takes place, is under a far less tight grasp by the lady. On the other hand, maybe the Malazans destroyed the majority of the Theftian priesthood of the lady, weakening the bitch significantly

And the scars bourne by us both,
are easily missed,
In the distance between us.

Kindness has its own rewards,
and each must find his way to heaven

There's already a thread on this if you look back a page or two. Called something like "Blood Follows and Stonewielder"

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
