I'm like a proper topic hoarder now...

Been re-reading GotM again, Paran's level of awesome just keeps going up with every re-read. Felt a bit sorry for him crawling around after the hounds had done their work in Itko Kan though.
Anyways, this was a bit more complicated than I'm used to so I probably botchered a few angles :( And I decided against a layer titled "guts and gore" because it was just looking disgusting...

You took out a "guts and gore" layer and there's still pools of blood, a severed arm and more blood leaking out of the dead guy's mouth?!

Looks great! I really like the (gross) crows and the horse looks almost peacefully sleeping except for the blood pooling... The only change I might recommend is that Paran's horse's back leg looks a bit too angled for it to be standing up straight.

And lastly it's good to see you're tackling scenes that haven't been done on the forum before! Keep up the good work!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Sweeeet. I like your version of Ganoes, looks better than the silly mental image I've been stuck with for years!

Also, now I'm curious about the guts & gore.
It was ever thus.

Haha, y'all shouldn't be so damn bloodthirsty! No really, in the book it's described how the crows were flicking pieces of meat around (which is how it came to cover Paran and his horse) and there's guts everywhere, picked out eyes and torn off limbs etc etc. I even made Paran's horse white with this in mind. In the end though, I couldn't bring myself to mutilate the horses and picked out eyes and slabs of meat everywhere looked disgusting.

And thank you all for the kind words ;)

Thank you!
I had worried about the angle of the hind leg but more because its rump got cut out of the picture and now you can't really see the twist of the body so I thought that might look weird. I see you are right about it being to bent though, I'll straighten it out :(

Not true. Pretty sure both Puck and Nobbs have tackled that scene :(

I like it. Shows you have a good understanding of perspective and anatomy, and it fits quite well with my mental image of the scene.

My only crit would be your colours. You can still push those, and your shades much, much further!

Well then I'm considering "ganoes inspecting a corpse in the bloodbath field" to be different from "Lorn riding out of the bloodbath field"! :D

Don't worry, these things take time...sometimes even years. It goes a lot faster once you're aware of the "problem", however :D
