I want to help, but I honestly don't know what to write. I've never read Goodkind, and the only things I know about him are through the forum :apt:

I have another passge written out based on Shiara's idea of 'spreading the goodkind' I'm not sure if it is a little long, I'm in the same boat as King Lear, never read I only know the horrors of Goodkind second hand. I'll post it when I get home from work and you can decide whether it is of any use.

Articles don't have to be specifically about Goodkind or his books. News and updates about Goodkind's Goodfolk are also important.

Obviously there is limited space, so shorter is, in fact, better. I will do any editting that's required, though and I'll post the finished newsletter for proof-reading when it's ready to be sent.

Goodluck Goodfriends...wait, what?

EDIT: The article that Mott (I think) sent -- Meeting the Goodking -- was good because it gave the impression of a really big fan who absolutely loves Goodkind, without actually mentioning many facts at all, if any.

All of my fellow Goodkind’s Goodfolk brethren know what our core and central mission is: spread the Goodkind. We have been working to achieve this tirelessly through distribution of SoT novels and persuasive arguments against non-believers. I’d like to share with you one particularly striking experience I had recently while on the train to work. Put the pitchforks and torches away my good friends because this is a good one.

I ride the train to work every day and usually I read, I’m sure you all know what. Any of the commuters who sit next to me and glance at my book cover I take the liberty to talk to: I let them know what it is I am reading, the quality of the work, the benefit they could gain from following my example and reading SoT. A lot of people are extremely gracious about it, they appreciate that I take time out the urban bubble to talk to them, to reach out, to recommend.

There was a particular woman who usually sat a table over. Trains are like that, commuters will know, you start noticing the people around you, noticing that you sit with them practically everyday of your life and yet you know nothing about them or where they work, what their interest are; sometimes you just have to stand up and take a shot, try to influence them, to touch them, whether they know it or not.

I realized that I could do something, I could give them each a gift, I could give the slightly harried looking woman across from me a gift, create with her and all the others around us a bond like I have with you, my Goodfolk. I started putting WFR in their briefcases and bags and one or two in the weeks that came would appear one day, head buried in the volume that I had given them, my silent gift, my connection to them. I never realized I was leaving the woman to last; I can’t say why I did when she was the one who had inspired me to reach out to those around us, I like to think it was fate.

Soon the time came for her copy, I was scheduled to deliver it to her the next morning but when she entered the train – we got on at the same platform – instead of sitting across the isle, she sat across the table. She had been watching me, watching as my plan unfolded, as I gave away the gift of Goodkind, as I made my silent connections. She was impressed, had heard me talk, she confessed she had listened in to my conversations on the books that inspired me to do all this – she had picked up one of the discarded copies near the beginning of my plan. She told me that she had been searching for inspiration, that she never would have given fantasy a go without hearing me talk with such love and passion. I shared my vision with her and she understood, she applauded it.

Goodfolk, next time you receive an angry e-mail, a message board put down, when mockery is heaped upon you, when you are belittled for trying to spread the Goodkind, remember, out there some people appreciate all you do, they understand and they respond – these are the people we want with us, for really, is anyone else worthy of the Goodfolk?

Okay it is rather long, probably too long and like the other one practically mentions no facts whatsoever, sorry about that. If it's any use though please do what you will with it.

that's awesome, but very very long! xD

I'll see what I can do to it without losing the important points.

EDIT: I seem to be ripping it apart in order to condense it into about three short paragraphs. I want to use it, but it would fit much better as Issue 3's longer 3rd article but that would leave us in the same situation as before. What do I do?

EDIT2: I has idea.

I really don't mind, whatever is easier for you. I'm sure I can get hyperbolic over something else Goodfolk-y yet not at all SoT related if that would help, writing BS is easier than I thought it would be...maybe I should give tabloid journalism a go.

i'm lengthening the page to make it fit. Your above mentioned BS is still very much needed, though, and I look forward to reading it!

The GoodNews Issue 3* is here for proof reading -- please let me know your thoughts.

EDIT: Just click no for the thing about source locations -- I was messing around with mail merges until I realised that I didn't need to.

EDIT2: I'm assuming that the lack of comments means all is well and good. I've checked it thoroughly myself, and subsequently made a few changes and corrections. I am now about to send it to Mr Apt.

EDIT3: Shit, the spacing between some of the articles screws up when I go to forward it.

EDIT4: That goes away after sending, I found out, so no worries there. Mail is sent -- look out for any postings in the Inn, from Apt.

*Decided to send as issue 3, instead of issue 2

Very good work there guys! I love Mott's 'Do a little Goodkind' article, top stuff :)

One little typo in the right-hand column - the bit about the upcoming novel? Fairly sure the series is called the Sword of Truth, though I imagine Sword OR Truth would be equally awesome if also written by Goodk-ack. Sorry, can't say it.

Hello Team. I note the concerns about lack of interest. Unfortunately my work schedule fluctuates between fairly placid (as it thankfully was when the Cage Match was on) and stupidly mental, as it has been for the past couple of weeks. Yesterday was a public holiday and I worked 14 hours, just for an example... I remain committed, but obviously have limitations due to this.

ARSE! Let's hope that Apt doesn't notice -- he'll probably only skim over it anyway, if he even reads it at all.

@Kanubis -- No worries, the Knight Commander has spoken on this. We appreciate your situation and it's good to see that you remain dedicated. If you wish to lend a hand to the operation, any articles for The GoodNews are much needed.

There's been a distinct lack of...reaction since sending our first newsletter, which is a bit disappointing but not entirely unexpected. We must soldier on though, and keep sending until he lashes out in a Goodkind-fuelled rage.

Just sayin.

Teh weekendz is upon us. I'd like to send the next issue on Monday or Tuesday -- preferably no later than that -- so please; any ideas you have for articles, get them down on metaphorical paper and post post post!

Thanks

If anyone has any articles please post them because I don't have anything for this week's newsletter yet. If no one posts by the end of Friday, I think that's a pretty good indicator that Operation Fungible has done its time and I'll close this thread and end the operation. The thread Apt started has died out anyway, and I doubt he'll notice if we stop, so...

The Knight Commander will deal with the closing of the Goodkind's Goodfolk facebook and email accounts, I think, and we'll never speak of the operation again...to anyone...ever.
