It is pretty weaksauce that the malazan section is not spectacular. We need to change that.

Well I clicked it. At work.

I got surprisingly bored and stopped after about 5 minutes.

I don't get it.

I don't find TVTropes as interesting as it used to be. And yes, I feel like a horrible hipster saying that, but still.

A couple of years back, it was great, it had a fun self-deprecating tone; people would pick out some of the tropes in their favourite works and make light-hearted jabs at them. It was cynical, fun and unpretentious. As someone who criticises stuff more the more he likes it, I enjoyed the general mood, and liked that I could mock silly aspects of my favourites games/books/whatever without crazed fans jumping down my throat for giving a loving prod to a sacred cow. Tropes Are Not Bad, after all. It was fun to see people deconstructing stuff without ever really "hating" on it or resorting to fanboyism.
Now it takes itself far too seriously, seems to be built around wanking over AWESUM and BADASS things everyone's favourites characters do, made-up internet tough guy troper tales, and devoting far more energy than is healthy to neutured passive-aggressive whining about anyone who disagrees with your opinion or otherwise ever criticises anything ever. See the terrifying network of angst the second-last entry here will lead you to.

That said, I do still find myself getting lost in it from time to time. I just find myself getting burned out quicker these days.
