For some reason us poor fans in Canada had to wait longer than others, but I finally received my copy of The Crippled God in the mail yesterday. Just finished the first chapter and it's great to see Paran again, but it's been so long that I can't remember what he was up to last. Am I right that we haven't heard from him since The Bonehunters? Except for a brief cameo on Toll the Hounds, that is. The last thing I recall is him defeating Poliel. Now we find him defending a city under siege, and there are children everywhere. What city is this? Where did the children come from? Who are the attackers? At this point in the series I'm usually pretty good at determining when I should simply read on to discover what's happening, but in this case I think I'm forgetting something. It's been over a year since The Bonehunters.
Wait a minute! Something just came back to me. After Poliel, did Paran and his host come across Felisin Part 2 and her gang of followers? Who are her followers again? Remnants of the Whirlwind uprising?
Thank you.

Don't worry, you're not forgetting anything, just read and find out.

You are absolutely right regarding the last time you saw Ganoes in the Bonehunters (excepting the TtH appearance with Picker.)

And yes, in his final appearance in the Bonehunters he is leading the Host to take out Felisin 2 and her cult. Her cult is made up not so much of Whirlwind remnants, but rather of randos from throughout Seven Cities who suffered as a result of plague, the Rebellion, etc. On the way to crush her, Ganoes runs in to Mathok, a cavalry leader from the Whirlwind who moments earlier declared that he wanted nothing to do with Felisin 2 and her new cult. Ganoes offers Mathok a position as Fist and Mathok's cavalry matriculates into the Host (not really a crucial, crucial detail, but worth remembering, as Mathok is still around and acting in this capacity in tCG.)

After meeting with Mathok Ganoes thinks to himself that he needs to create a card for the Deck to reflect Felisin 2's cult, and decides to call it Salvation. He muses that it's presently in the House of Chains, but suspects that it will break free of that influence eventually. Then he rides off to Aren.

Again, that's just a refresher - none of it is hugely relevant to tCG and as MTS said, for all your questions about where Ganoes is/who he's fighting/who the children are etc, read on and find out.

How do you rape a cave? Do you ask, "You want to fuck, yes?" hear the echo come back, "Yes... es... es..." and get your barnacle-gouged groove on?
