I'm really hoping this was a mistake and everyone's not going to laugh at me for missing an obvious link, but...
...there is a difference between the Snake and the Shake, right? 'Cos in the DP at the start of the book, under 'The Snake' are listed Sergeant Callows, Corporal Nithe and Sharl, while at the second, complete DP at the end of the book, the characters from the Snake and the Shake all appear under the heading of 'The Snake' again, and there's no heading for the Shake.
Confused the hell out of me before I started reading - how was the Snake going to get a Sergeant?
Pretty big miss by the proof-readers...

yeah, whoever was proofreading wasn't paying very much attention, i noticed that too

I saw that too and kept wondering when these soldiers would find Badalle et al.
