Rap went waaaaaaaaaaaay down hill kind of round the time that Puff Daddy and Biggie Smalls started collaborating. I was a long time listener from the days of Melly Mel and Master Gee etc. Over my extended listening I went from UK underground to east coast American to English then back again. I never really was a fan of west coast mainly because of the front involved.
People I used to like as it progressed are Master Ace, Jeru The Damaja, Gangstarr, EPMD, Killer Instinct, Gunshot, MC D. and so on.
I think the last good album I brought was Blaze Blaze by Blaze Blaze. After that it just got childish and generally shite. I still have hundred of lps and cds at home of fall the old school stuff I brought over the years. But this is all about 10 to 15 years ago I stopped listening
Im not sure if the Hip Hop / Rap scene has got any better but it needed to come full circle again before it gained any spec of respect back. Ive read the previous posts and don’t recognise any of the new chaps. Im glad in a way that Rap is still going but I think ive just moved on.
