Ok. Arakasi and I have been discussing it, and with his help I've come realize I have lots of theories on Raraku that don't have much rationale behind them. Hunches, preconceptions, all that.

Here's what I think, and damn me if I have much or any book stuff I can quote off the cuff.

Raraku is very old. I get this from a few snippets Erikson has posted, but I also base it somewhat upon his education as an archeologist. So, I think it might be older than the T'lann Imass. Possibly what used to be the plains from the memory L'oric saw, with the Eres and Deregoth.

I also think that Karsa's little 'temple' helped Raraku express itself, and was sanctified by the desert itself: eg- the snakes.

What happened to the chunk of the warren that was the Whirlwind? CG didn't get it; the Tiste Liosan didn't reclaim it(although they might have only been after Gesler, Stormy and Truth)... I think Raraku claimed it.

And the flooding of Raraku... I see that as what was needed for what ever Raraku was before to come again. Especially if it's connected to the Eres and there's about to be an Eres/Tiste Edur half-breed.

The Bridgeburners are connected to Raraku via the Song, Paran to them, and I think Karsa as well(though loosely) through his temple.

Where I'm going with all this, I have no idea. I've just been thinking about it, and figured I'd post some of my thoughts to see what yours were.

Apologies if this has come up before.
