The only real issue I had with the book was

the President's involvement with Umbra. WHY? Yes, it drove the plot, but I don't remember any getting any motivation for the President of the USA to go along with the deliberate deaths of most of the people on the planet.

Or did I miss something? I admit the book flew by pretty darn fast. I also wasn't happy with

Travis sitting and pouting while Paige and Bethany were racing toward the iris at the end. Why didn't he pick the thing up and run toward them?

But yeah, great book. I'm enjoying how each episode seems to revolve around a single entity; that's a good recipe for a series, right there.

the President was a closet enviromentalist/survivalist who agred with Umbra that the ony way to save the world was to start over. By the time Paige came to him with the devices, the agenda was already moving along.

when the battery died, opening the portal was the only way to extend the time. And you can't move the portal once it's open.

And relatedly, that scene was BRUTAL to read.

I agree the device-du-jour theme is a great one, especially because Lee manages to come up with fairly clever/novel ideas that make the devices both friend, enemy, tool, problem AND solution.

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a tv series eventually.

The third (and final) book of the Breach series, titled Deep Sky, will be in stores on Tuesday, December 27 of this year.

The book takes place a little over a year after the events of Ghost Country, and deals with one of Tangent's strangest secrets: a fact about the Breach that not even Paige Campbell has been aware of until now. Travis and Paige dig into this secret and quickly realize it may hold the answers to every question they've ever asked about the Breach.

Tho i'm a bit surprised bk 3 is intended to be the last book in the series. I would have thought Lee could make this work for longer.

He probably wants to get started on his 10-volume fantasy epic...
