Whilst rereading I was wondering to myself what information I am still waiting to find out and what I crave to find out... Them little hints or the gaping plot holes that will be RAFO...

As the topic suggests, what are your top 3 "must know" plot points that you are waiting to find out from the Malazan series?

For me:

#1 Assail - What the hell is going on..?
#2 Drift Availi - Who is the "sleeping being" that Andarist didn't want woken up...
#3 Quick Ben - Who/What..?

So many to pick from, Kalam alive? Where's Paran? Just who are "The Three" on Shal Morzinn, ST/Cots and their plans... But I think those #3 are the ones bugging me the most...

Cool thread. Are we doing "Must Knows" for tCG, or for the whole wide world that we expect in following installments? I'm asking because, for example, Assail is obviously one of my top 3, but I also don't expect to hear too much about it in the Crippled God. I'm going to limit mine to must knows for the final volume.

#1 - Shadowthrone and Cotillion's master plan. Because knowing this would, in turn, make about 40 other things fall into place (the Azath, possibly the Nameless Ones, the Azath/Gate to SD in the Refugium, possibly Edgewalker... Really, their fingers are in just about all the big pies.
#2 - The Jade Giants - Where they come from, what the spirits inside of them want, how they're connected to Otataral, what role does Heboric still have to play involving them and - of course - how they're connected to Kaminsod.
#3 - Toss up between Quick Ben and the siblings Paran (Tavore + Ganoes, if I can cheat and lump the two of them together.) I think Quick edges this one out, though.

Edit: Honorary mention must go to Icarium and Mappo, and just, in general, what role Icarium still has to play, as it seems clear he's crucial, and far from done.

I've gone for the whole story arc, what we, as fans, want to be revealed to us by both authors... But you could quite easily limit it to SE and the final book...

well i think that would have to be:

1) why is QB magus of dark? i have the feeling that this will all be part of his final unveiling
2)will korabas be released, only to have tiam come screeching back from chaos?
3)where in the world is father light, now that mother dark has returned?

1) The Jade Giants. A recent reread of BH just emphasised what a big, unknown plot point they are.

2) Tavore. SE said he loves her character and I really want to see why.

3) Just what is the Crippled God up to? I won't believe that he is just passively allowing the FA to use his power. He must be planning something. And now his agents are about to join up with the BH ...

Whilst rereading RG another one popped up... Fener, he knows he is to die in one final battle... which side will he be fighting for, maybe the Gesler, Stormy ex worshipers connection could come into it...
