I've nearly finished the book now, and he's the only bloke that I can't quite work out. I can see where all the rest are coming from, but I can't quite connect with his character - I can't figure out what his motivation is.
I'm up to the part where he's sharing a campfire with Coll and for the life of me I can't put my finger on what makes him tick - he's a noble who decided to be a soldier, became a personal aide to the Adjunct who used him as bait, he falls for Tattersail and when he realises she's *fallen* he decides to wipe out the Adjunct. What's in it for him?? I can't work him out. Some of his actions have had me scratching my head, particularly when they seem to conflict with earlier actions - eg when he ended up inside Dragnipur and does his thing with the Hounds - why do that?
WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON??? Is he a puppet with strings or is he his own man?
What does everyone else think?
