[Lousy]

Has anyone read any of these? I've read the first 3 (the varied-color Ice titles), and did like them. But now I've picked up the 4th in the series, which takes a different title track, Watcher of the Dead, and it just seems shorter and more thrown together than the others in the series.
[Of course, there was a trilogy before this series that was set in the same world but that is a bit of another topic.]
I guess I'm getting the impression that this series could be going the way of Jordan's WoT series and it has me concerned. Should I even continue w/ it? I'm not very far into it, but do not want to waste any of my limited time on it if it is just going to wander off aimlessly w/ nothing at all happening like in the Wot...
