Each night a player can spend one chip on either a kill, guard, heal. One chip can also be spent to protect yourself (this negates a day lynch by the dealer or blocks one single nk attempt).

Each day one player gets the dealer chip. that player can instantly try and lynch one other player at any time of the day without affecting the timer (though voting requirements will of course change). The only way to protect yourself is by spending a chip the night before.

Can the cheaters protect themselves from a lynch?

Did you mean to put this in a pm to PS?

Also, when will the cards be dealt?

No, I wanted to make sure that scum couldn't block a lynch. If they could the game would have been broken.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

Well. Here's the problem. We HAVE to lynch. And it's day one. Which has been notoriously lynch-free around these parts. :)

I agree playing together has a certain appeal: allowing everyone to bet in the most obvious lynch direction before hammering has benefit's for all of us, but it does also help the cheaters. I don't think there is any way we can readily discern the cheaters on-thread (I'm obviously innocent, if you read the first couple of posts! XD) and I don't quite get what point there is to them if everyone has the same single night action and lynching powers. Sure, they have an advantage, and it gives us someone to focus on, but it's hardly 'scum'...it's just two guys who have it easier than the rest of us. :S

I agree we have to lynch, and with that in mind the only thing that jumps out at me is Bent asking why I would ask a question of PS on the thread.

VOTE BENT

So there's no timer on the day? Just ends when the lynch happens?

Yeah there's definitely no scum. Cheaters, sure, but no scum.

However, I find it kind of unlikely that Grief would mention scum if he were a cheater, because a cheater is going to get a PM (as confirmed by dibsy), so the cheater is likely to be "more aware" of the lack of scum.

We're basically looking at a last-man-standing type of game... only with 2 people standing and only one winner, based on chip count. Last day will be really interesting because of the dealer's potential to kill someone.

Game Setup

A high stakes poker game played for life and death stakes. 9 men enter with 2 cheaters are at the table.

Each player begins the game with five chips. Cheaters begin with 8.

Dealer selection is done by a game of 7 stud poker. If you wish to be in with chance you must pay a chip into the pot before night and send the mod your card selections (2 cards) the mod will deal you two cards. These will be replicated on the thread once day starts. I will then use random.org card generator to post the five dealer cards. the player with the best hand wins the pot and the dealer chip. If more than one player use the same cards the earliest entrant wins. You cant use same cards twice in the game.

Successfully killing a player gains you a share of their chips. In a lynch the chips are shared out equally between the train with at least one chip going to each player regardless of the pot size. In a successful nk the chips are shared between all attacking players.

Betting on successful lynches must be done on thread, bets cannot be retracted or changed once made. A successful bet will double your investment. betting should be done as follows on a seperate line and in bold.

I bet 2 chips that XXXXXXX will be lynched today

This would earn you four chips plus your two back.

Betting is based on lynch trains, not dealer based lynches.

There will be NO off thread communication. The cheaters will know the other cheater but are playing for themselves.

Your Goal in this game is to end the game with the most chips. The game will end when two players are left.

Player List

alt, hd , tapper, hmqb, silencer, grief, veng, shin, Bent.

Days will only end with a lynch or a vote to night. Night is 0 hours in length.

Can you clarify some rules for me, Dibs?
  • Does anyone have the dealer chip now?
  • Have any cards been dealt yet or is that going to happen tonight?
  • If the dealer attempts to insta-lynch someone, does the dealer have to spend any chips to do that or is that just a perk of being the dealer?
  • Do we know who the dealer is?
  • What happens if you elect not to bid for the dealership?
  • Can you explain how the daily deal of cards will go? Like, do we have our hole cards private and our face-up cards public or what?

Cheaters are essentially scum. It's last man standing, but they are at a definite advantage.

Scum itself is simply a label for the minority who hold more night power, in traditional mafia.

There are more non cheaters than cheaters, so they are a minority, and they have an edge.

I see no reason not to call them scum, since they fit into that vague grouping.

no one has the dealer chip yet.
when you put in your ante i send you your two cards in private.
the dealer chip is a one shot insta lynch, you do not spend any game chips on that lynch.
the dealer is announced when all cards are shown at the start of the day.
i use random.org to select the five dealt cards at the beginning of the day and post them in SH so that there can be no alteration. then during the day players pm me to spend a chip on entering the pot. there is no penalty, but if you are not in it you cannot win thhe money or the dealer chip.

You don't know my working and tv-schedule, good man :D

@ Grief: disagree with you on all fronts, and I think it is not just semantics, but may affect game strategy.
Cheaters don't help one another, as scum is intended to do. In fact, it is more or less advantageous for cheaters to get rid of the other asap, as that will allow them to actually use their extra resources without falling behind the other cheater.
Moreover, their VC is the exact same as that of the other players. Nor do they exactly hold an edge actionwise as they can do the exact same thing as other players can, except they can do it for longer in a ceteris paribus situation.

My idea was to avoid the ceteris paribus by gaming for some chips, but no one seems to have any interest in the idea. Considering the fact that there is no timeout, it shouldn't be too difficult.

I don't know if we can rely on the cheaters gunning for each other, especially early on in the game. Since everyone can BP themselves, I doubt we will see that many NKs in the beginning, since for a kill to go through two people have to target the same person - not something that can happen except by luck in a situation where there is no off-thread comms.
