If a movie was made

Due to the fact that most movies cut scenes from their original source material, what would you cut out from Gardens of the Moon?
Here's mine:
1) The Prologue:
2) The Paran estate scene:
3) Caladan Brood:

You would remove the prologue? But that was an amazing scene that set up the state of affairs for the rest of the book.

I must admit that apart from the thing with the two hooded figures and the girl I didn't much understand the prologue...
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

If a movie was made you'd have to cut a hell of a lot more than that.

nothing, i know that there are all those talks about gotmism, but i kind of like the so-called contradictions, it
give a certain place to debate about any issue almost ... even with erikson.

I would probably remove the "UNLEASH THE SEVEN WITHIN ME!" line. That was corny.

i read somewhere in an interview, iirc, that he had worked on a script before the book was released and it had three chapters to it, it began with the assassin chase across the rooftops, the middle was the assassin battle and the final was the fete!

Unleash the Delete key within my word processor! I have the power!
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

I'd delete the whole Raest thing, just waaaaaay too actiony. It would just end with everyone meeting up at the big fete instead to party together, no conflict.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Quick kissing Kalam but Kalam not kissing back, then Quick teleports out in a huff, tears streaming down his cheeks.

That whole Enfilade thing that went down at Pale didn't really add a whole lot of weight to the overall story.... could probably leave that out.

That wasn't in the prologue , that was the first chapter in Itko kan. I'm assuming by girl you mean Sorry and are referring to the scene where she gets possessed by Cotillon. I think that scene should definitely be in the movie. But yeah I was also at first confused by that scene hehe
By prologue I meant the opening which takes place in Malaz City during the last year Kellanved's rule, where a young Paran encounters Whiskeyjack for the first time

But then when Paran goes riding into Laseens presence and she remembers him how does that get explained unless we cut that part out too, flash to Paran riding into Unta and being escorted to Lorns room.

A movie?
Never. All those nuances are far too important for the story.
I have to admit, sometimes while reading I can see a movie scene blossoming in my imagination and I think: 'wow, what a great picture this would be on-screen. Epic, never seen before (think alone of Coltaine in DG) or as we speak of GotM, Raest/Dragons, Assassin war on the rooftops, Rake/Demon. I know, these are action scenes, but also the dialogue scenes use so fine threads. Seeing them cut out or classified as stuff unnecessary would make my heart bleed.
GotM would be crippled. Ha, what a pun ... TCGotM
As we know almost every word counts in these novels. How can one be able to put this on film?
I think there are few books with such detail underhand.
My open oppinion? Don't film these books.
I didn't have those doubts when Jackson filmed LotR or now that GRRMs ASoIaF is produced as a series.

Some of the stuff about the Guild being killed on Darujhistan's rooftops. Got a bit dreary.
Suck it Errant!

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I would probably keep The Prologue. There are just too many characters to focus on and I would try to center on Paran and the Bridgeburners. I would probably cut out Circle Breaker and some of the other minor characters and the less important story arcs.

I reckon it would be impossible to make it a film less than 12 hours and maintain the sheer greatness. Maybe a series but would anybody consider doing 10 or so seasons? Appen it would make an awesome cartoon series though!

I'd keep the scene where every active member of malazanempire.com was put in as an extra.
