Okay, so mid-MOI Gethol, Crippled God's new herald, appears before Kallor and they chat. He is trying to entice Kallor into joining the champions of the Crippled God's new house - thus forging himself a position in the deck of dragons in the new House of Chains. Gethol advertises that Kallor could be the King in Chains: ruler of all within the crippled god's touch, his head honco in the mortal realm. Kallor is tempted.

Fast-forward to the end of Capustan and QB has just finished bitch slapping some necromancers. He and Talamandas are trying to pass by some snoozy Bargast and QB draws upon Talamandas' power to help him hover past - in doing so Talamandas is revealed as being a sorcerer primarily of Hood, and QB uses his 'in' to will Hood into appearing, fully in QB's grasp. Cool.

Hood protests the House of Chains must not be sanctioned by the Master of the Deck, and lists positions and how they are or have been filled:

Poliel, mistress of pestilence, aspires to be CONSORT of the King in Chains.
A Herald has been recruited (Gethol)
An ancient warrior seeks to become Reaver (*see below)
House has found a Mortal Sword in a distant land
Spoiler

Mowri is Cripple, Leper and Fool
An ancient power trembles around the last of the dread cards...

1. Is Kallor, like, tricked? He was told he could be King

2. That final 'dread card,' is that the position 'The King in Chains'? Besides

there are no other positions untaken. Who fits that bill? Does not Gethol make it plain that The Crippled God himself could not fill the position of King when he offers it to Kallor? Is he lying?

If not,

3. I kind of answer my own questions?
4. Mowri: what a chumpette!

The King in Chains is
Spoiler

And I don't know wether the CG tried to trick him or simply changed his mind at the last moment. Anyway it is clear in later books that Kallor knows about the switch and isn't very thrilled, to say the least.

As of Memories of Ice there is no King and Kallor has been given the role of Reaver. Most likely it is the same position as Solider in the other houses.

Things change later in the books.

EDIT: You are mixing up the positions of King, Knight and Mortal Sword.

The Knight of Chains is: (House of Chains spoilers)
Spoiler

The Mortal Sword is: (Midnight Tides spoilers)
Spoiler

There is no King as of MoI.

Reaver isn't the same as soldier.
Hood says "Mowri now embrases the Three - Cripple, Leper, and Fool - which are in place of Spinner, Mason and Soldier."

Probably something awesomer.

I can't actually recall if someone is called SH or Destriant of the CG, but there certainly are candidates. But you also have to consider that it is not as straight forward as that cult is set up and three people are just picked as MS, SH and Des. It is often sporadic, the god picks a champion when one is needed.

Is Felisin Younger a candidate for Destriant / Shield Anvil in Chains?
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Surely any Mortal Sword/Shield Anvil/Destriant would be Mortal Sword/Shield Anvil/Destriant of the Crippled God and not necessarily be related to the House of Chains.

I'm just going to point out that people are posting a hell of a lot of spoilers. Better save the comments for now and just leave it at RAFO or else you risk ruining it for people who can't stop themselves from peeking.

Well, it's your thread. How far have you read? We could just ask a moderator to move the thread to a later forum.

I've read 'em all - except the novellas.

It is almost like there should be a whole forum for RE-READS so everyone who has read everything can confer and discuss without bothering the people reading through the first time - who can then in turn get answers and discuss ideas among themselves without someone who has read the series 50 times coming in and chalking the thread up with spoilers. Might make things easier for everybody...

That way too RE-READS can address numerous issues in numerous books at once.
