Dust of Dreams - Q&A with SE
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Very exciting! As I should have predicted for the final book, however, the comments have already been bombarded with a few people showing off how smart they are by destroying as much mystery for first-timers as they possibly can.

Still, can't wait, Bill and Amanda and most posters have been awesome throughout.

Yeah, I'm trying to stem the tide. I think Amanda often waits a bit before reading the comments for that reason.

I yelled at people about it in DoD, and got my posts deleted for the trouble. Seems like half of all posts I make on the Tor re-read now don't appear until a moderator approves them days later, too. ;) I'm not trying to stem it anymore.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

It's by nature a reread and I get the enthusiasm in general, so I won't harp on it much (there or here), but answering Amanda's (or another first-timer's) speculation/thinking out loud with an out-and-out confirmation/denial/answer is some straight up nonsense. But besides that one guy who has at least one complaint in every single post, I generally like the discussion quite a bit, so I'm gonna chalk it up to first-day-back over-excitement and hopefully people will cut back on the wink-winks and the we-learn-later-that-it's-this-person posts.

And D'rek, never stop yelling at people. Never.

I dropped out somewhere in Reaper's Gale, but did people stop whiting out/verbally obscuring their spoilers?

Darn. The respect the commentators had for the new readers was an incredible thing to see. They/we figured out ways to talk about future things without ruining it for those who hadn't experienced it yet.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Nah it's mostly still good, with only occasional slips. It's just today in particular (TCG Chapter 1) -- and as D'rek said, moments during DoD as well -- that people got a little lax, maybe cuz we're nearing the end. I imagine people who don't post here are using it as their only outlet to discuss the books in depth, which is understandable, but today was a little overboard.
