Well, I probably would spare the small children, but you just gave me an additional reason to prefer MMPBs.

I have this weird thing where I want books in a series to be in the same format. As such, seeing both Stonewielder and Orb Sceptre Throne in tpb format when I have all the others in mmpb is driving me nuts. Stonewielder has been out for 18 months already! Fortunately, I still have Dust of Dreams (p970/1267) and The Crippled God to read, so it's not like I'm in any sort of hurry. I bought Forge of Darkness as a hb to avoid this same consternation

My collection is a mess. I own:

1 mass market and 2 trade paperbacks of Gardens of the Moon
2 mass markets and 1 trade paperback of Deadhouse Gates
2 mass market paperbacks and 1 book club hardback of Memories of Ice
1 mass market and 1 trade paperback of House of Chains
1 mass market, 1 trade paperback, and 1 signed hardback of Midnight Tides
1 mass market and 2 trade paperbacks of The Bonehunters
1 mass market, 2 trade paperbacks, and 1 book club hardback of Reaper's Gale
1 mass market and 1 Kindle version of Toll the Hounds
1 trade paperback and 1 Kindle version of Dust of Dreams
1 hardback and 1 Kindle version of The Crippled God
1 hardback of Forge of Darkness
1 trade paperback of Bauchelain and Korbal Broach
1 trade paperback of Night of Knives
1 trade paperback of Return of the Crimson Guard
1 hardback of Stonewielder
1 Kindle version of Orb, Sceptre, Throne
1 Kindle version of Blood and Bone

Missing Crack'd Pot Trail and The Wurms of Blearmouth.

I'm working on getting everything in US trade paperback as well as UK trade paperback or hardcover, but it's a slow process. Originally, I started out with mass market but now I just keep mass market versions around to lend out to people.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Return of the Crimson Guard - Chapter 2 Part 2
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch

Nice one! I only own one copy of each, but I was recently thinking of acquiring some more, for example hardbacks.
Talking of which - does anybody know whether TCG is going to be published as a mass market paperback too in the nearer future? All of my books are in this format, different editions though and I have to say I like the DoD matt cover best. I am not a big fan of glossy....
Anyways, I really don't want to have different formats for my SE collection. The ICE collection is trade (albeit matt), with the exception of KoK. I can live with that, but really not the MBotF.
but are they worth preserving?
'that judgement does not belong to you.'
