Pug rose, unsheathing his fury as the power of Kurald Thyrllan seeped from his flesh, embracing him with its burning touch. The bitch of light had wanted something, that much was clear to him, but such matters would have to wait. Once again the Imass had sought him out, seeking to destroy him.
Arrogance
Ignoring the Imass gathering about the crater's edge, he scanned the heavens for any sign of the Imass dragon; she also had made the mistake of thinking that she could kill him, along with three other bonecasters, only she had survived, a score he would soon settle.
Without warning, an Imass wave fell into the shallows of the crater. Pug noticed that the other Liosan were under attack also as waves of piercing Thyrllan glowed above the descending Imass ranks.
Arrogance
A silent snarl greeted his undead assailants as he unleahed the chaos of his power upon them, tearing through their decayiing flesh and bones as easily as the blade of a sword would cut through the air.
Such arrogance, what chance have they when even their strongest fell before me
A sudden darkness filled the sky and Pug knew that it could only mean one thing. Anomander Rake had decided to make this battle his very own. Pug thought to himself that perhaps he should have killed Anomander Rake when he had had the chance, never before had he known such an arrogant creature. Then, from out of the depths of darkness, Anomander stept, his dreaded sword coming into hand as the snapping echoes of unseen chains rose above the cries of battle.
I am done
With that thought, Pug sank into the dusty earth of the crater, leaving behind the battle and the sea of Imass warriors, some of whom were at a loss as to his disappearance. When suddenly, a deep rumbling commenced beneath the field of battle as the earth rippled, tossing aside any that were possessed of unsure footing.
Suddenly, five columns of Kurald Thyrllan shot into the darkened sky, turning to ash any that had stood in their paths to ascention. Five glowing white dragons closely followed, the Thyrllan shafts of fire originating from their gaping maws as the d'ivers form of Pug rose into the heavens, forsaking the chaos of the battle below.
He had had his fill of this fight, still not yet completely healed from his confrontation with an Assail Lord, he had decided it was best to leave and deny his enemies the chance to destroy him. A missed opportunity that perhaps in time they would regret.

Shalk breathes in deeply, feeling invigorated after the battle. He considers following the peculiar man, but the sheer beauty and strength of the scene before him holds him a prisoner, for now.
He picks his way delicately through the shards of bone and the settling ash, into the crater, where he starts gathering pieces of the Imass, which are larger than his palm. Every time he gathered an armful he would climb up and deposit it into a growing pile at the brim of the crater. Eventually he tires of it, choosing to gather the skulls, and when he is sure all the skulls have been recovered, he bows somewhat mockingly to them.
'Fare well, fellow destroyers. May ruin and carnage forever lie in your shadow, and death hound your trail... if you can ever leave a trail.' He grins, bowing again. 'Come on, dear boy, we've not got much time to follow the lady.'
He helps the boy stand up, brushes the dust off his hands and nods.
'Time to follow her.'

IC: *On the floating island of Drift Avalii, outside the keep housing the Throne of Shadow stood a Tiste Edur playing with his child. A hundred paces from them the dust stirred. Two thousand T'lan Imass rose from the ground, at their head stood a Bonecaster. Monok Ochem.
A fireball took shape in the Bonecaster's hand, at a slight flick of his wrist it sped towards the Edur. Wards of High Kurald Emurlahn absorbed the brunt of the raw Tellan, but the figure they protected was thrown from his feet and into the wall of the keep.
The Bonecaster turned to his massed army.*
Leave none alive.
OOC: Your turn SL.

*We do not have the power to destroy this ascendant, in his rage we will all be anhihilated(sp?). A column of tellan gushed forth from the tips of Monok's fingers, picking up the enraged Edur, pining him to the rock wall of the keep.
Silent comunication passed between the Bonecaster and his army. We do not have the strength needed to finnish this, kill all within the keep.
The army flowed into the keep and before long, the sounds of battle could be heard, the clash of metal on flint; the snap of bones; the screams of the dieing and the deep, concusive boom of sourcery. Then all went quiet and the remaining T'lan Imass filed out of the keep. 1 and 1/2 thousand remained.
on his unspoken word they collapsed into dust.*
We will return Edur.
*The Bonecaster followed them, leaving Rael, the Lord of Shadow, alone.*

Tolkner stared down at the littered remains of the fallen imass that lay haphazardly scattered across the dusty crater's floor. His mind still lay in a state of shock at the events that had just exploded around him. His Godess' power unleashed was not a particulary new thing to him but the needless obliteration of hundred of T'lan Imass out of sheer arrogance was.
I thougt you different to your arrogant light-skinned kin Teillos. I have seen great compassion in those eyes of yours. Yet today i saw something that didnt belong there. A certain joy at imposing your dominance upon lesser beings. A joy i had not seen matched before this day, on which i have seen it twice. Once in your eyes.. and once in the eyes of that outcast.
His thoughts turned to the brief contact with Pug's eyes and the fury that reigned unchecked behind them.
No my Shining Lady, you keep bad company. And this new found arrogance blinds you to the truth that is so clear to us all. The outcast is a danger to us all. To the very existance of life upon this world.
Something caught his eye in the dust covering the crater floor. He bent down and brushed aside the dirt covering the fractured skull of a nameless T'lan Imass. The jaw had disintergrated under the previous attack, burn marks scattered across the pale bone like pock marks on skin. On a sudden impulse he released a little of the light, probing at the remains and found a slight barrier of resistance.
The Imass magic still resides, if only faintly. He is not fully destroyed, nor is his link to his clan.
An idea began to form in his mind but before he could put it into action he was reminded of the two newcomers. Turning he saw one of them staring at him, his companion once more a crumpled heap on the ground where he had fainted. Tolkner held the gaze for a while longer, trying to discern the stranger's intentions but they were a perfect mask. The only emotion he could make out was a slight smirk playing on his slim lips.
Thinking back to the brief but chaotic battle that had happened moments back he couldnt quite remember if the newcomer had participated in it. He had seemed keen at the time. Yet strangely something seemed to be blocking him from remembering too clearly.
Perhaps not an enemy. But definately not yet an ally.
He spoke outloud, his voice startling loud across the charred crater.
"I will depart now, stranger. This imass needs complete peace, not a lifetime stuck in this abyss like crater."
Without waiting for a reply he quickly opened a portal and stepped through.
Ignoring the cold mountain wind that swept around him; Tolkner looked down into the empty eye sockets of the T'lan Imass skull.
"I know you can hear me Bone Caster. I think it is time that we had a little talk. Something must be done. Your.. discretion.. would be appreciated. I will remain here for half a day, my Shining Lady should be too busy to notice my absense for that long. You have till then."
With a sigh he sat down against a rock that offered some meagre protection from the chilling wind and started to wait, hoping all the time that he wasnt making some monumental mistake.

Bottle flicks his eyes about. The furious crowd has split into two, one heading towards the town square to partake in the murder of the nobles and incapacitated magic users, the other heading directly his way.
"Darn," Bottle said as he looked about. An empty looking store looked appealing. Nah, he thought, the mob will most likely rob the place and if a Claw was among them fat protection that would confer him. His eyes swivelled about. The open air foodstore was no better. He looked up, his eyes latched on the entrance to Temple of the Twin Jester, also known as Oponn.
He smiled. No matter how daring, the crowd will never dare defile the sanctity of the temple to Oponn. Even the Claw will have second thoughts if they tried to accuse a person wearing the robe of a priest of Oponn as a magic user.
He quickly ascended the steps and penetrated the dark inner sanctum. A man wearing brown robes looked up. "What?" he said before Bottle opened his warren and swarmed him in the illusion of a gaping chasm. Crying out in fear, the priest groped about before his heart gave up on him.
Looking down at the recently deceased man, Bottle wasted no time. Dragging the body behind the altar, he removed the brown robe and draped it over himself.
Outside, a small portion of the crowd broke off and ascended the stairs to the temple.
Bottle pulled the cowl over his head and stepped into the light. Flinging his arms apart, he thundered. "You dare defile the sanctity of the Temple?"

I would rather let ten innocents die, than to let one guilty live.

Tolkner could only stare as the scene before him stared to combust with astonishing speed.
There is no need for this to happen Teillos..
The surrounding army of desiccated undead that loomed on the crater's edge was starting to make him uneasy.
This could get messy. And for what? The image of those fury ridden eyes flashed through his mind. No my Shining Lady, i can't help but feel for once the eternal war of the Imass may be right. There are somethings that are not meant to exist with others. Nor want others to exist with them
The harsh nimbus of light surrounded Pug grew in strength as the figure rose to his feet. Tolker could almost feel Hood smile.
You're not getting to feed on our souls today, you manipulative bastard
Tolkner stepped forward to join the group, to try and counsel his Goddess, no doubt angering the other Liosan, but he was stopped short as Teillos raised her hand. The pulsing waves of lights struggling to be released rebounded against his head, making him feel alive and dying at the same time. Such control.. Such devastation.
Again Tolkner opened his mouth to speak to stop this nonsense. And open it stayed as the very air darkened and out onto the still smoking crater floor stepped the imposing figure of the Lord of Darkness.
It can't be..
Tolkner could only gaze in awe and fear as Rake unsheathed the smoking sword of darkness and chains from his back. The sword seemed to swallow the feeble light all the more eagerly than before, almost as though having been starved too long it was now ready to feast. Tolkner saw the set in the Lord of Darkness' shoulders, saw the resolution to violence there.
It is him, only he could be so arrogant and hasty to kill.. to feed that cursed sword of his.. By the light has everyone become so arrogant that they are blind to the fact this need not occur??
His gaze flicked back to Teillos, saw her divine mind start to register the presence of her supposedly lost love. He saw her control on her warren loosen slightly as her eyes were held on the dark figure, little sparks of light spluttering out to land on the dusty crater floor. And he saw her resolution solidify as she stood reunited with her lover once more, fighting side by side, as it had been so many times before.
No.. please
The only two people who appeared to have any sense so far were the two new strangers, who had kept suprisingly inconspicious so far, although he didnt go so far as to trust them enough to turn his back on them.
It was almost to his own suprise when his mouth finally found the words and spoke them. It was harsher than he intended but the blood pounding through his shaking veins was deafening, muting all thoughts of tact from his mind.
"Teillos, stop it! There is no need for this to happen. You are being stupid. You are all being so damn stupid!"

An equiring public needs to know...
So what's this thread about anyway, do we write up what who we'd be if we could be in the Malazan world? Or is it based on our sign-in names or what?

Tolkner knelt silently next to the alter like table and what lay upon it. The soft glow of the Denul wards filled the small room, making it seem warmer than it actually was. Faradas had led him through to the small storeroom at the back of his house before leaving with a look filled with pity.
Another tear slowly trickled down his cheek before landing on the stone floor beneath him, already wet with fallen tears. His hand clasped the cold hand of his beloved, Anakar and had been for the last few hours. He was oblivious to the cramp in his hand and the other pains developing in his muscles from kneeling for so long. His eyes remained locked upon her peaceful face as his thoughts once more travelled the tortorous cycle that they had been travelling for an eternity.
Oh why did you have to die, my sweet sweet Anakar..
He started at the hand upon his shoulder, turning to see Faradas standing over him, a plate of steaming food on a tray in his other hand.
"You need to eat my friend.. It has been almost two days now and you have yet to eat."
"I'm not hungry.. thankyou Faradas"
"You need to eat. And you offend my wife's cooking and hospitality if you keep this up. And we both know the last thing you want to do is offend her"
Tolkner laughed along with the joke, more to make his long term friend feel better than out of actual mirth. He motioned for Faradas to leave the tray in the corner, who willingly did so with a smile, before closing the door on his way out
I've got a few people to offend actually.. The first of all being Hood, you manipulative bastard. I'm going to make you pay. I said i would and I swear by the Light that i will. And Anakar shall rest in peace.. free from your grasp. On the light i do swear that too.
He tried to ignore the little whisper in his mind but its nagging touch couldn't be ignored, the question too important.
And when will you let her rest in peace? You've got to let her go, let her body be commited back to the fire from wence it came.
I know... Just.. Just not yet.
Tolkner stiffened as the sensation pulsed through his body. That had taken a while to get used to but even now it still left a little shiver coursing through his blood
The Shining Lady has veered.. Something must be happening.
He could always feel something now.. not quite her presense but more like her existance. It was stronger when he was nearer to her, then able to sense emotions and even pain.
Me, a priest of the light.. Not something even the Gods could have dreamt up i think.
Wincing as he stood up he left the room walking backwards, keeping his eyes on the still form of his beloved until the it passed out of his line of sight. Sighing, he straightened his back and went to find Faradas to inform him of his immediate departure.
OOC - yay, back in business.
but i have got a festival coming up, leaving tomorrow or the day after. Should something come up where you need my character to do something MAJOR while i am away then just get Lady A to write it, otherwise then just feel free to mildly use him
I chose Lady A cos i've talked to her before about what i thought Tolkner should be like and also me being her priest should mean that i tend to remain around her in the story. ta

Stepping through the portal Tolkner stopped just out of reach of the circle of light as it folded in on itself. The stench of sorcery was strong here, socery inbred with violence. Always violence. He ignored the small voice in his head that reminded him of his own use of magic. My flaws I am more than aware of.. Betrayal.. not being there when i am needed most. Aye, well known indeed.
Of Teillos there was no sign. The littered dismembered corpses of Edur and T'lan Imass lay scattered across the small courtyard that lay under the shadow of several trees. The trees that still wept their tears of orange and red, tears that eleganty glided down to cover the bodies below. Always violence..
Questing out lightly the priest had no trouble in finding his Shining Lady. He strode to the shadowy doorway, stepping over the bodies in the way, before heading down into darkness.
The keep was filled with bodies. More Edur than their undead opposition, which surprised Tolkner. I suppose they all can't be as powerful as their leader. A small frown settled on his brow. Not a pleasant thought.. He realised that he was letting himself get distracted. He was here to once more rejoin with his Godess. A ginger release of power revealed that she had moved from where she had been. Venting his fustration in a small sigh he turned to his right and headed down the narrow passageway.
The impact of daylight upon his darkness accustomed eyes was painful. Squinting, he searched the courtyard. Identical to the one he had arrived in a few bells ago. He raised an eyebrow at the mutilated remains of numerous T'lan Imass. Well almost the same. He strode over to the small group, who stood in a half moon around two central figures. Teillos. His eyes widended at the grey skinned figure who lay pinned to the stone wall behind him, sweat gleaming under the light pouring from the hands of his Godess. She made no indication that she had noticed Tolkner's arrival, her face a mask of concentration as she strove to unravel the wards bounding the leader of the Edur to the wall. There is some strength in those wards, to hold him so. And for my Shining Lady to struggle so. Yet it was apparent to Tolkner that, strong as the wards were, they were weakening under the constant attack of the might of Kurald Thyrllan. The diluted cannot withstand the pure. The proximity of the two warrens, Tellan and Kurald Thyrllan, something he had only become aware of with the embracing of his new diety. His thoughts quickly lept back to the unkown bonecaster on the mountain and their agreement. Such thoughts were quickly quelled though, for fear of discovery, but not before a single thought trickled out. Yes.. such proximity.. It could work. It must!
He glanced nervously at the Godess but her full attention still lay on the Edur before her. He dared not look to the others to see if they had sensed his wavering loyalty. No.. not loyalty. The answering voice in his head was full of mockery. What else would you call it, priest of light? For that he had no answer.
He felt a quick shudder in the air as another ward suddenly broke. She's almost finished.. He joined the others watching, the Lord of Darkness included. Rake.. oh that is an enigma i daren't yet address. Nor one i expect to solve.. At least the outcast is not here.. A small comfort to the worried priest as he set about watching Teillos unravel the few remaining wards. Not long now..

The crowd continues their ascent up the stairs.
"The audacity!!" Bottle roared as he pointed at them. "Do you wish to try the fury of my God?"
The crowd hesitated momentarily. The one, a short blond man cried, "Do you harbour a noble or magic user here?"
Bottle slapped his hands together. "Who Oponn choose to grant protection and sanctity is not your concern."
The crowd looked about, then began their ascent.
Bottle took a sharp breath. Looks like judicious use of his warren was called for.
Bottle extended his arm. "Know the wrath of Oponn, defilers!!" As the air around them darken. Overhead, the air darken as his illusion spun into being, conjuring an image of an increasingly stormy, dark sky!!
"Fear!!" Bottle screamed as the crowd cowered under the palpable illusion.

I would rather let ten innocents die, than to let one guilty live.

OOC: Are you using Rashan, Bottle? Or Meanas?
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

No more new members please. This was meant as for just the origional people, but those new people can stay if they want. I'm posting this because Anomander is threatening to never come back which would be a massive blow.
