Automatics are pretty rare down here, mainly because they're still a fair bit more expensive than sticks and we all learn to drive a car with a clutch when we're old enough. I think if you do your license in an auto, you are only allowed to drive automatics and everyone laughs at you... Think I've driven an automatic twice in my life, absolutely hated it both times.

Hell's a standard? You mean manual or stick shift? We get the option, manual or automatic. Only real men drive manuals though, no triptonic shit either.

Manual is standard in north america sorry. my car is a tiptronic shifter there's nothing wrong with that!

Wow in North America most cars are automatic, in fact there are several models that are no longer available in manual, people don't normally get them unless they are getting a racier type car of trying to save money.

Yeah, it took me ages to realise that all the references in movies and TV to driving stick were because it's considered something only farmers or race-car drivers do.

Oh yeah that - I was out having a meal with some friends, and taking the piss out of one who in retaliation threw a rather impressively aimed sugar cube right into my drink. Splash, amaretto everywhere, looked like I'd pissed myself but instead of being bad it was quite nice almondy smelling. A waste though, I agree. Tempted to go get amaretto from downstairs now....
