You have the right of it Shiara, I would never serve instant. I don't like coffee, but I do pride myself on making a proper cup. All the coffee served here in the pub is with freshly ground beans. Made in either an espresso machine or a french-press.

Big glass of port please. Today is my last day on this surgery rotation and last full month of clinical duties. Only 16 eight hour shifts in the ER between me and pathology.

Oh it is fun and I'm sure you will like it. I did essentially the same thing. My advice to you is to get active on the student council on the publicity side of things. If they have a blog get in on that action, if they don't start one. Set up a podcast even if you can. Because if you are a contributor to it it'll look really good on a transcript and will help you out later. If you're the editor, producer and contributor than that's even better. Also go out to seminars and meet external profs and professionals, invite them to write a piece for the blog or be in a podcast. This will help you out on the networking which you will need if you want to go to a masters with ease. Also writing essays/posts for the blog and podcasts will help you learn better anyway. It's win-win.

well there is a monthly paper that the student pub/cafe is writing, and my cousin has writen some articels for them, also i have asked to join that same pub/cafe thingy for both fun and cheap beer, also its open for members during exsam times giving me a good place to study

we had a frosh week social even tonight at the campus pub which we rented out.

considering i've been drinking from 3 till about 6, then went to class, then went home, ate a bit, rested for about 20 mins than went out.

I've had 9 drinks at the pub (4 doubles and a shot), and I was feeling essentially stone cold sober.

alcohol is becoming a really dangerous expense.

@Beru, sounds like an excellent plan with good benefits. I still stand behind my advice though, since it would have helped me immensely and I wish I had done everything I suggested.

So, since I moved back I've been a bit more aware of the news and the wider world in general. Access to cable and getting proper feeds set up is now getting me a stable info diet.

The problem is that traditional news outlets, the ones that were in general useful, have become bad and the bad ones abysmal. I'm currently looking for alternative news feeds but they're quality average is low and their scope very limited.

During the last Provincial elections for the first time ever I was nearly paralyzed in my voting preference. I did not know who to vote for. In the end I know who I would have chosen but never had I ever considered not voting or at least scraping my vote. It was a depressing thought.

I've been following Mars One for a bit now and I like their goal, though the method leaves me cold. What it's got me thinking is: Who wants to just leave? Check off Earth and just fly into the black.
Build a Lighthugger, and go see the rest of the universe. Never stopping. Sounds like more fun than sitting here and watching the world turn.

I'll bring the pub with me so that we can meet up and share a pint and swap stories. Who's up for it.

A toast it is:

The Void

-2 parts dark rum
-1 part coke
-A few drops of Kahlua
-Maple sugar (for the rim)
-Salt (for the rim)
-Lime juice
-1 or two cracked coloured ice cubes

Rim the glass with a 1 to 3 mix of salt and maple sugar using the lime juice.
Then mix in the rum and coke. Put in the ice, stir vigorously and drop in a few drops of Kahlua.
Place glass on powerful LED base and enjoy the simulation of space before downing it.
