so, i cut the end tip of a finger off today while cutting a sheet of drywall. the blade was so sharp i didnt realize till blood started pouring out. took forfucking ever to stop bleeding.

i of course took pics which i will share asap.

Brisbane will be fine...though considering everything that's been happening I wouldn't stake my life on that comment.

I have an aunt who lives in the middle of the 30km area that they say is where it will make landfall. My uncle died 4 months ago, their daughter died last month and now a fucking cyclone is about to wipe everything she knows of the face of the earth and we don't know if she got evacuated or not.

My partner works at Ipswich hospital and he just called to say that Ipswich has been put on alert to expect casualties as a result of TC Yasi - Ipswich only goes on alert if it is a local disaster or if they believe that the metro hospitals will be inundated with casualties....seems the government is preparing to recieve a lot of injured people.

I guess they'll be flying people from up north to Amberley or something.

They keep doing Hurricane Katrina comparisions - Katrina was Hell on Earth and from everything they are saying this is going to be at least twice as bad. Thankfully the government didn't hold off with the evacuations but there are still over 10,000 people in Cairns proper and hundreds of thousands more in the areas that will be affected.

My mum has a friend in Cairns that is unable to evacuate himself and his three little boys because the evacuation has been stopped due to dangerous winds - they can't get planes in and out. He didn't wait to the last minute - the emergency services just ran out of time.

Maybe we'll be lucky and it'll change direction and head back out to sea....the weather guy says that isn't possible but they never get it right so who knows. Gotta have hope, right?
