Tetris Effect is out and it looks great.

I really want to play it but I'm not paying 300+ DKK for a Tetris game. No matter how atmospheric it is.

But it looks so good. Tetris is one of the few games I would describe as a perfect or pure video game. It's elegant in it's simplicity and skill. I played that game for endless hours when the Gameboy came out.

Amason leaked that Sunset overdrive is supposed to release on PC on Friday. Just like the previous batch of Microsoft exclusives in Sept, it's being published by THQ Nordic.

According to PC Gamer, there'll be a couple of announcements at the Joystiq awards, too.
Devolver, Warner and a few others were mentioned.

Sony have announced that they won't be at E3 2019 - first time in the expo's history.

Holy shit that's big. I can't remember, did MS set up shop outside E3 last year as well or was that EA? What ever the case as a person who loves the pagentry and showmanship of E3 it saddens me that it's losing support. It feels like killing Christmas.

EA's been doing their own "pre-E3" thing for 2 years now. It's still considered part of E3 though.

Re: Sony pulling out... I mean, it sucks, cuz there were some neat 3rd party Japanese announcements that generally'd end up making it to PC.

But if they don't want to unveil the PS5 yet, and all their new projects are next gen... they're in a tough spot. They want to keep selling PS4s, since they're @ 86 million units already, but any next-gen hype will now scare off potential PS4 buyers-especially if Sony implements backwards compatibility with PS4 (and if they stick with x86 architecture, they'd be pure dicks not to)

I wonder if this means Microsoft will have an extra-long show this time. Or if EA, Beth, Ubi and Squeeenix will have all their stuff pulled from Xbox stage so that all the Japanese devs as well as Rocksteady, Remedy, Activision, etc get some spotlight.

Getting a "wait for sale" from ACG, as there's technical glitches and such.

Still, I'm a clear fanboy in this case and I want the series to continue existing. I don't think I bought a full-price game since The Witcher 3 pre-order, but I'm ok with doing that here.

There's also rumours about a new Alien game

-oh and more buzz about Rocksteady finally revealing their next project. (Edit: Rocksteady tweeted saying they aren't gonna be there, and they aren't working on Superman)

Supposedly 10+ new game announcements total. Might be worth a gander, if it'll be streamed on YouTube.

Edit: also coming will be more Anthem footage and potentially some Dragon Age news.

Awards season is upon us. The Game Awards is Thursday and then a new one called The Gamer's Choice Awards airs this Sunday. Awards shows are pretty dumb in general (especially video game awards). I'll probably try and catch some of the Game Awards online if I remember. And the Gamer's Choice Awards I can DVR and FF through as needed. If for nothing else, sometimes they show new trailers for upcoming games. Any of these (or other game awards) going own your eyeballs for the couple of hours they air?

I don't particularly care for the awards, but The Game Awards is going to have a bunch of new game content/announcements. I might watch them Thur evening. Or I might goo for a swim and come back to find a bunch of YouTube compilations of all announcements already done.

Ooh, New, post-apocalyptic Far Cry will be revealed @ the Game Awards.
There's a teaser trailer on YouTube that implies this is a canonical sequel to the ending of FC5.

Ugh, with Far Cry 5 the series went from one of my favorites, to utter disappointment. I want to hope a Primal like game could be good but I have no faith in the current team.

The ending of Far Cry 5 was pretty nuts though.

I do plan on trying to watch it in the morning before the reveals are spoiled for me by the interwebs.

I'll probably watch the stream on IGN's youtube, since the timing's reasonable (830p PM EST).

Don't care about the awards, though, since the only 2018 game I played this year was Darksiders 3, and that was released after the nominations closed. Plus, of the 4 heavy hitters 3 are console exclusives, and AssCreed is a series I'm so hopelessly behind on, I I prolly won't get to it for another 5 years.

You misunderstood. The reveals is the part I want to watch. The actual assigning of awards is what I don't have care for, because I didn't play any of the games, nor am I likely to(anytime soon). And I know which games will be there From listening to the Kinda Funny Gamecasts, which listed the nominees in all categories.

The only real exception are the strategy games, and RPGs, if Pillars of Eternity 2 wins somehow.
