That he was mistaken for a Genebackan isn't exactly hard evidence that he's not non-human.

True enough, but ther was speculation of where he could be from, and he was never described as anyting "other" like Barghast, Jhag, Edur, Andii, Liosan, Forkrul etc. etc.

You guys referring to Mallick Rel?? Wasn't he a Ghistal priest. Ok, if I have got the wrong Rell, please let me know. Perhaps the Rell you are referring to is from ICE's works. I am unable to find any of ICE's works where I stay.

Nope, not him, this is from Return of the Crimson Guard by ICE (as stated above my spoiler).

Man, wish there was a way, I could get hold of ICE's books. I would like to sample his form of writing. Not to mention, Greymane and the avowed stories. The country in which I stay, people read trash such as Sidney Sheldon and John Grisham (no offence to any of their fans, I simply detest the cliched BS they write). I would be surprised, if even 5% of the reading community in my country has even read any Tolkein. Since, there is no requirement for ICE's books, no book stalls procure it. Guess, I will have to save up and order it from overseas..

Just go into your local bookstore, preferably a big one with connections, and ask them to order the book for you. If you live near a uni book store I'd recommend using that one, since they try and get it as cheaply as possible since students usually don't have a lot of money.

Unless I miss my guess, HL is in Venezuela, and may not have particularly great book sources there.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Any bookstore worth its salt should have connections to publishers and book distribution centrals. Unless he's living in the Amazon, there should be means of getting the book through a bookstore.

Wow this thread is all over the place...

Baudin is referred to in MoI and HoC as the Knight. In TtH Hood switched the positions between Baudin and the Second. It's Hood's House and he can do what he wants.

Soldier, Champion, Knight and Mortal Sword are all different titles for essentially the same thing - an individual aspected to a God, House or other power who fights on its behalf. That's as far as it goes. In theory, anyone can be a Knight/etc, but for the aspect to have meaning it's generally someone martial. We could speculate that the level of title goes to the degree of power, ie: when Hood needed a powerful agent to assist the mhybe, he made Baudin Knight. As the Second was running around chasing Skinner, he needed less investment. But to have a more powerful agent in Darujhistan, Hood switched the Knight role to the Second. Either way, all that matters is Hood as King could do whatever he wanted.

Baudin was a Talon. All that means on its face is that at some point he was linked to Cotillion's assassination cadre. In Baudin's case it was by his father. But beiong a Talon can be a simple as knowing certain rituals, codes and skills (like Toc being a Claw in GotM without the assassin skillz) . So Baudin being a big man and a skilled warrior are tottally workable. As we've seen with Kalam, he can ALSO be an assassin.

Seguleh are human. In TtH Mallet or Bluepearl or Fisher, i forget exactly who, speculates that they use Denul somehow, but that's all we have.

The Second was an undead Seguleh serving Hood.

Mallick Rel is the Jhistal priest. Rell is a completely different character in RCG.

- Abyss, all over.

Thanks for the directions. wait I am lost, which part of the world do I live in??? scratch..scratch :) =)
Anyways, the titles of the champions, heck even a King is transitory. Ultimate power lies with the God/reigning ascendant of a particular warren.
EX: House of Pains (I hope this isn't spoiler material), where the God and King are different, though we are to still ascertain what the King's actual warren is. If it is revealed in book 9, please let me know and I shall get to it faster. Talents (coin) aren't a problem, at least not for now, it's the supply chain that is vexing me. I have tried almost all leading book stores, (beleive me, they do contain most BS of all other ahem "genres"). Sadly, no one knows even who ICE is.. I will probably ask them to order it directly from the publisher instead of a vendor.. All those talents gone to waste.

Since the 2nd and Skinner were brought up... Anyone know what caused that dispute? The 2nd is OBSESSED with him!

Nope. In TB and RG Trull ascended to Knight of Shadow, and Shadowthrone had nothing to do with it. As far as we could tell, Shadow itself invested him.

Nope.

All we know is that the Second is undead and has been for a LONG time, since before the Seguleh became the warrior cult they now are, and Skinner is alive and an original Avowed of the Crimson Guard, which makes him about 100 years old or so.

The Second's visceral ranting suggests he doesn't want to give Skinner a hug.

But beyond that, we don't know when and how they have clashed, including whether the Second faced Skinner before or after he became Soldier of Death, whether it was Skinner who killed him, whether Skinner is even aware that a ranting undead Seguleh aspected to Death is hunting him...

Hood's comment at the end of TtH suggested that once the Darujhistan convergence was done, the Second would reach Skinner.

- Abyss, hopes we get to see that.

But shadowthrone only rules a fragment of shadow... i.e the house and not the hold nor wandering ... so perhaps the Eres'al with the true ruler of shadow inside her had a hand in getting Trull (his dad) to be the shadow knight...

Touching on another posting session related to the QOD and the possibility of Mokra and her being entwined... perhaps Mockra is the dreamer... i.e as per the Mhybe situation that confuses me:

Togg and Fandy had to ask the Mhybe to release Toc younger from teh beat realm that was created by her sleeping state.. so perhaps there is the God of the Warren, the king and queen and the person who dreams it into existence and that one has the choices and decisions to make... kings of like an impartial arbiter or something....

Assuming you mean the Eres' child by Trull post HoC, as opposed to Seren's kid... ummm... i forget - when we see the Eres just before she takes out Iccy, is she described as being pregnant? I didn't think so... but then, there's time travel involved...

It's not unthinkable, but i doubt EVERY warren is the result of someone snoozing somewhere.
