Sweet.
No word on if this means the main character must by law have sex with two beautiful women, suffer a debilitating injury and then blow something massive up at the end though. Although I think stuff blowing up is a given.
The new game picks up 4 years after the first and sees the alien invasion that began in the first title reaching New York City, where the player must fight off the aliens and also the corporation that built the Nanosuits, who seem unhappy when you steal the prototype Nanosuit 2 to help defeat the alien invaders. Morgan was brought on board to make the story edgy and unpredictable (fellow SF writer Peter Watts worked on the first game).
The game will be out at Christmas on PC, 360 and PS3.

Definately sweet. Congratz to Richard Morgan, hopefully the creative leash he's on is long enough to make the story awesome.
As for possible bumping uglies Wert refers to: it could of course also mean that the lead character turns out to be gay and the women are lesbians... wonder what the age rate will be then

The first game had, at the very least, some fun stuff (I enjoyed it the most after the Marines began their asault on the Koreans, and once the Aliens began their assault) so this sounds promising.

I wonder if there will be tons of references to really crazy sounding drugs, seems to be a staple of his writing style. Sounds like it could be very cool though.

Am I the only one who thinks "edgy and unpredictable" is going to mean "juvenile and ridiculous."
I note, that I have not read his books, they're pretty much permanent fixtures on my 'to read' wall, however, good or not, plenty of (published) writers have had their stuff sifted down to Crap by release when they work for a game developer in the past.
its still Crysis though, so it will still not(or had better not, at least) suck.

Peter Watts helped with the first one? This I did not know - I love that guy's stuff. Maybe helps explain the aliens...

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

@Jusen- I was not thinking juvenile. If anything, I was thinking even more awesome.
Really, this is a good thing. I definitely think I will be getting this now. A story written by one of the best sci-fi writers? Yes please.
Of course, Crysis was already good but I think this plus having it on a console will be great. Besides, other games that have been penned by sci-fi writers have been good.
My specific example is Advent Rising on original xbox (and pc?) it didn't sell well so the sequels were canned, but the story was by Orson Scoot Card and while he is a YA author really, it was a fun game.
