This is the other bracket that featured an upset in the first round. Tool, even though seeded 11th, handled Skinner quite impressively. This round gets some epic matchups. It is anyone's game.

Karsa vs Brys: The problem with this battle lies in that we don't really know how Brys would handle a person that dwarves him in speed, strength and reach and on top of that is harder to kill than a cockroach. Nor do we know if his rebirth and position in the House of Life has granted him new abilities or made him super humanly strong, fast and durable.

I think that Brys could match Karsa's skill with the sword. But I don't know if Karsa wouldn't just treat Brys like he did the 11th. The 11th by the very nature of her position in the hierarchy, would have been no pushover and Karsa made that fight look easy.

Brood vs Icarium: Interesting. We never got to see Icarium facing an ascendant fighter, only a very skilled mortal. The question is whether Broods skills and the fact that he wields Burns hammer would mean he had a fighting chance or whether it wouldn't be enough.

I ended up voting Icarium because his legend is just so much more scary, I doubt Brood would be the first ascendant to try and stand in the Jhags way.

Tool vs Dassem: This one is mainly a question of skill with a sword and willpower.

Before Dust of Dreams I'd have said that Dassem would win and probably make it quick. But after DoD? Tool is a T'lan Imass again, he has his powers back, and this time - even more so than in MoI - he is driven by a terrible rage.

Would Tools rage match Dassems? I think this duel would be hard to guess the outcome off.

But going on personal impressions, I think Dassem is the scariest.

2nd vs Rake: Hard one to Judge. We have yet to gauge the 2nds real skill, we haven't seen him fight anyone noteworthy. All we have to go by is his (former?) position among the Seguleh.

Rake on the other hand is a legendary ascendant who's been a billion battles and wields Dragnipur a sword that makes people cover in terror. He was able to manipulate Dassem in his final fight, which shows extraordinary levels of confidence and talent.

I had to vote Rake.

Karsa vs Brys: Brys is an incredibly skilled swordsman but really so was the 11th and Karsa defeated her easily. Karsa's strength,resistance and stubbornes, would,I think, prove more determinant than Brys's skill.

Brood vs Icarium: Brood is strong, wields Burn's hammer and is said to be on the same league as Rake. However we have never seen him fighting anyone. Icarium, on the othe rhand, well, basically whoever is in his way is dead meat. Voted Icarium.

Tool vs Dassem: Ah, the two First Swords. Tool is gifted true but was beaten by a Mok, who is close to the First who was mentioned, of course, o the same league as Dassem. But really we don't need thes reasonings. Dassem is Dassem, end of the story.

Rake vs 2nd: We really don't know much about the 2nd while the events of the series have made me deciding that Rake is the best swordsman in the series. Add to that his magic and dragon form and the 2nd is done.

I think that if anyone could go toe-to-toe with Icarium, especially in continent-smashing power, it would be Brood. Honestly, a battle between them would likely destroy the entire world (even if that *wasn't* Caladan's express intent).

Or are we assuming he'd be using a weapon other than the Hammer of Burn? Either way, the more I think of it, the more that would be the most epic match up out of the entire series (for me, at least).

I had to vote for Brys, just because he's so much more likeable. The end of MT showed he definitely has the skill, unpredictability and ruthlessness, and I honestly think he would be Karsa's match.




But really, if Icarium doesn't win this bracket, it's madness, so the other results don't really matter too much I reckon
