In any situation that is likely to result in a fight where I'm involved, I'm quite sure there are bottles sitting around that could be weaponized quickly.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Kind of like in Signs, except instead of glasses of water it's empty Vodka bottles.

I have 3 Shinken (Katana) as I train with them - sharp as well as I cut things in training. I have a new one coming from Japan that I ordered last year.

I've also got a hunting knife and a Tomahawk I forged myself.

Got myself a pair of cannibal knives from Tanzania. Grandparents brought them back a few years ago.

Also, a LOT of kitchen implements. Including a badass-looking skewer.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I also have a double-bit throwing axe, but have no idea how to throw it. So I just use it to split kindling.

Oh, and some wooden spoons. I am very adept in their use.
I finally have an avatar ... and it's better than yours.

I used to have one of those kukri knives but my brother nicked it off me.

My katanas are production line shit I believe. One of them looks remarkably similar to Mcloud's in Highlander - and I reckon the blade would fall off if I hit someone with it. The other one is much more sturdy.

The things with having edged weapons in the inevitable zombie onslaught is that you wont run out of ammo at a crucial moment. After watching Deadliest Warrior I've decided my morning star is about as lethal as a 50cal sniper rifle, I've just got to make sure I dont hit myself with it...
I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Good heavens! How in the world to you afford that? I would love to own more than one, but I almost couldnt' justify the purchase of the first one.

haha yeah the nice katanas with the real carbon steel blades (none of that stainless shit) are pretty expensive, i've seen some nice ones run for over 3 grand with some lower scale ones run for a few hundred.

and i have lots of bullets for the zombie invasion. plus edged weapons so i win.

Has no-one considered to join the zombies? That seems like the best bet for survival... ok, mindless preservation of undead body mass.

Mine are actually my cousin's, as he asked me to hold onto them for a bit two years ago and still hasn't gotten them back - despite him being 10 minutes away.

And someone else here has a kukri? Those things are the most badass knives ever made - excellent machetes too.

There weren't any suspicious red marks on the blade when your cousin asked you to "hold onto them" were there?

Pfft, edged weapons would be good in a zombie holocaust right until you get tired and the edge is dulled and bent by hacking through however many skulls. Then you die. Max Brooks may know nothing about military tactics or guns but the whole stabbing weapons thing is good. You want an anti zombie sword, take an estoc and go for the eye sockets. Morning star is also good, if tiring.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Bludgeoning is also effective against zombies, since bone collapse will essentially neutralize them if not destroy them allowing you to get away.
Besides I disagree with Max Brooks on high rate of fire weapons specifically on the point of mechanical damage done to the body.
