Just a brief note and recommendation to read this. _Instrumentality_ was published as part of the SF Masterworks series (and possibly _Norstrilia_ was too). Just great, great stories. Quite Dickian in some respects, but with a sensibility all his own.

It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.
