At the end of the book in Dom's command tent. Did I miss something? Who was the guy Kalam had the duel with? Or is that discovered in future books?

My memory is fuzzy? Was this the part where Kalam and Cotillion clean out Bidithals abode of demons and stuff?

Or was it when Quick and Kalam kidnap Korbolo? As far as I recall he didn't fight anyone of import there. If he did I'm guessing it was some b-list secondary character connected with Dom.

It was just some Talon under the employ of Korbolo.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

The short conversation they have before the fight hints at him being more significant than just a Talon. He asks Kalam if he remembers him, to which Kalam replies "No, I don't" after driving his knives into him.

Aptorian, the scene is in Dom's command tent after Kalam escapes from Bidithals temple and just before he finds Henaras murdered with a pearl on her chest.

could be anyone from kalams past really. he's been a falah'ds dagger, so he must have fought seven cities assassins, and he was a hand leader in the claw so it could be a claw that korbolo turned. i don't think it really matters. some guy thought he was tough shit and kalam taught him otherwise.

There was the "You probably don't remember me." "No. I don't." part, ...and there was also the awesome bit where the next two assassins say they can take him and he takes them both out with the mini-crossbows on his arms.

I always loved those parts. It's not like there was any doubt Kalam was a badass before then, but there he's a badass with style.

Not to mention the part where Kalam was put to shame by Cotillions combat prowess during the fight against Beidithal's Wraiths.

And here I was thinking he was more like a behind the scenes kinda guy.

The person Kalam killed could of been significant in some way, shape, or form to Kalam in his past. But, it really didn't matter that much since Kalam doesn't remember him and just kills him anyways without knowing his idenity. I would probably think it was someone from during his Claw life, some kid who was left over after he killed the parents as part of the claw mission. God only knows how many people Kalam had to take out while being a Hand leader.

Kalam fought someone and didn't kill him? That alone should be a huge clue; unfortunately, it ain't for me. I have no idea.
