No, those are videogames, proper RPGs are played with pen and paper. :o

When an AI can duplicate the infinite variations that a human GM can do, then I will refer to computer videogames as the new RPGs. Until then they are just a glorified choose-your-own-adventure novel with kewl graphics.

And I already own an ipod, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BRINGING BACK THOSE FEELINGS OF PAIN AND SHAME YOU INSENSITIVE BASTARD! :o

I've never played it, but supposedly the "Film director" AI of the Left 4 Dead games are kind of like a GM. It watches how the players are performing and either ups the ante or aids the team when ever they're failing, basically shaping each scenario making every play different.

That sort of seems like a step in that direction.

Anyway, this is not about Dresden.
