I'm doing a portrait of Lostara and wanted some help with her tattoos.
Any one have any ideas of what they look like?
If you're feeling creative draw them on my pic, or if not just describe them

Very nice. You might take a note from NoK. I believe Corrin (Like Lastara) has Pardu style tattoos that are explained fairly well.

I think. Its been awhile and I don't have book on me.
Oh, me and my endless folly!

NoK page 107 (Bantam Books Paperback.

"Temper was suddenly very aware of the depths of her deep brown eyes, and the filigree detail in the black tattooing that ran from the tip of her nose to her forehead."

Not sure if this helps, it's the first description of Corrin's tattoo that I could find.

not sure corinn is pardu though. i always got the impression she was from quon tali.

lostara's tattoos i always envision as kind of a dot and dash thing, but with no straight lines

I'd give her more of "hook" nose though, or whatever aquiline means...which usually crops up when she's described..

As for the tattoos, maybe something Arabian in style?

the aquiline, or "roman" nose, is one with a prominent bridge that causes the nose to appear beakish, or hawkish

Yeah, for the tattoos i was thinking along the lines of traditional indian or persian design. If you type in henna tattoo into google you'll get an idea straight away, but while i can visualise a woman with this style of tattoo on her face (i'm sure i've seen a character in a movie), i couldn't find a simple image with a quick search.

I've always been under the impression she has long hair, though if pressed I wouldn't be able to procure a fragment supporting this claim.

Anyway, great work on that, now just the tattoos. Maybe the rest of her later!

The tattoos that have come to mind on Lostara recently are the Elvish facial tattoos on Dragon Age:Origins. That's what I picture them like.

I like these, they feel more delicate and theres a lot
more filligree as describe in the books for corrin.

I personally I think a slightly subdued version
of this would work nicely for you :)

I'm thinking a similar design with just the work on the
forehead and neck with a line accentuated down the nose...

slightly off topic but... that pic is hot.

Yep, and disappointingly cut short.

Thanks for all the feedback on this.
I thought of Henna tattoos (as well as tribal tattoos from Africa and India) but maybe a too busy design, I was thinking a more simplified one.

Definitely thinking a cross between the ones Macros and Dolmen posted.

But I won't be doing anything on this for a while cos I officially started my holidays an hour ago
and I'm headed to the coast to get rained upon for a couple of weeks.

@ Gothos: I don't know about the length of her hair. I just assume it would be short. No proof or anything, just a vague feeling.
I think it's time for a re-read, my first read through the series was quick and over a year ago know and all the details are starting to disappear. Stupid leaky brain!

I've been extremely lazy lately and haven't made much progress on anything.
Finally got off my arse and had a bash at this tonight and seemed to going well until I got to her hair.
...I think she looks pretty with a mohawk-y-thingy...
