How do you interpret the title of the third book?

It could mean a bunch of things. Memories made of ice. Memories belonging to ice. Someone's (or some people's) memories concerning ice. Which would you say it is?

What got me thinking about it is the fact that the title in my mother tongue is, translating it back, Memory of Ice. The translator decided to change the plural into singular. What's more, the form of the translated title clearly eliminates the first option of the three above. I wouldn't say, though, that that option makes no sense. Let's see what you think about it, then.
'If we are to live,' Rake went on, 'we must take risks. Else our lives become deaths in all but name. There is no struggle too vast, no odds too overwhelming, for even should we fail - should we fall - we will know that we have lived.'
