So, this was apparently "by mistake" sent out to parents, after the principal sent it to the teachers as a joke.

'Joke' letter from principal sent to parents

Principal on administrative leave; parents angered

fake letter to parents of Litchfield Elementary School sent as a joke from the principal to a teacher last week found its way home to some parents, but few are finding the punchline funny.

Principal Ron Sterr distributed a fake letter heavy on hyperbole and sarcasm to to a teacher, he said, but the form of the letter was addressed to parents, and it mocked students who could not complete their "easy" math assignment.

The letter was sent home to parents.

A flood of calls from outraged parents have led to the school district putting the principal on administrative leave, Litchfield Elementary School District Superintendant Dr. Julianne Lein said.

"The Litchfield School District renders its most sincere apology to our students, parents, community and staff for this incident. We are taking specific steps to remedy this situation," Lein wrote in a press release.

In the letter parents were advised, "If your child is either too lazy or too stupid to finish it in class, I'm sending it home so that you can work with them and judge for yourself whether it is laziness or idiocy that inhibits your child's progress."

Later in the e-mail it parodies the lengths the school must take to assist children with peanut allergies.

"Further, one of our students has a nervous tick [sic] that causes him to slap himself in [sic] face several times a minute. In order to help this child not feel conspicuous, we ask that your child imitate a crazed masochist for the length of the field trip."

Sterr called each parent to apologize, according to the district's press release, but did not immediately take credit for the letter.

It is not clear who wrote the e-mail. Lein believes the letter was inadvertently sent home while copies were being made of another letter that was an official release from the school.

Sterr explained to 12 News he sent the letter to one teacher to make light of a difficult parent from the past, but the letter does not express his views.

To be honest, while some of the stuff he says is in poor taste, I find it laughable that this has been made into an actual news story. This is what is called "Job humor", these kinds of jokes are every in a work place.

If the fucking school system had had some balls they'd told the parents it was a mistake nothing more and told them to shut the hell up. No reason to blow this out of proportion.

Do you really want to know why this is a "news story?" It's because lots of these parents are guilty of being terrible parents who could give a lesser fuck about their childrens' educations, don't want to hear about it, and are bitching because of guilty consciences. Full disclosure, both of my parents are public school teachers and my sole brother is a public school teacher. I substitute quite regularly for public schools.

What doesn't get blown out of proportion is how many students parents could give a lesser shit about their childrens' school lives. They DO NOT CARE. Public school has become a damned baby-sitting service, and a stupidly lenient one at that. I feel sorry for the kids because the lessons they receive at home is basically that they DO NOT need to learn, that school is useless, and they can end up just like mom or dad, or mom and dad, and be perfectly okay.

"Turn off the TV for once and pay attention." Yeah, that's about right. Teacher's get the humor because it is dark humor and it's dead on accurate.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

The school district should be putting whoever sent the letter to the parents on administrative leave rather than the principle...

Well, it's still unacceptable to put that pen to paper. Educators are charged with the education of the students in their classrooms. The problem is that this attitude is understandably widespread. Do you ever want to see a battle royale? Place parents and teachers in a no-holds barred arena (and disallow the parents Meth and other drugs).

Also, the ridiculous rules for the Field Trip? Overblown, but spot on for ridiculousness. If America wants to improve education, step #1 is parental guidelines. Better kids in a god damned orphanage where they have to do work and are allowed visitation than the normal ignoring that most parents give to their child's schooling.

The man should be sacked simply because he's stupid enough to put all round common thoughts to paper. If he's stupid enough to record that for posterity and further distribution, then he's not fit to try to form kids into men and women. Furthermore, the level of stupidity he's operating at when setting himself up like that is quite on par with the math-gag he did on the kids, so the whole thing is viciously ironic.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Just realised I put a swear word in title, yet none of the moderators caught it.

I would have gone to the school and high-fived the principal in person.

As the parent of a schoolkid, that letter is both hilarious and wildly inappropriate.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

The whole maths thing is true. Parents are very quick to blame the teachers if their kids are stupid... It made me laugh, thanks for that Apt. :(

And now let's turn our attention to the next piece of poetry, "The Charge of the P.C. Brigade..."

These people have no sense of humour. But as H.D. said, conscience compels them to make a big deal out of it.
