In TTH (pg 266) Spinnock states that Rake sent him on a mission "Hunting Dragons, of all things" during the siege of Capustan.

My Question is, whats up with that?

What dragons? Soletaken or Elient? Was he (and maybe other andii) responsible for Sorrit? Maybe something in Assail?

That section seems to relate to something more immediate, as it was Spinnock's "last" mission before having gone to Assail. So, I don't think it has anything to do with Shadow, as Rake did that himself. I noted that on my latest re-read, also. Most likely it pertained to a feral Eleint running around Wu.

Depending on timeframe and how much forthought/knowledge Rake had then maybe he sent Spin off to meet with

Yes, it's a bit strange that he should have been hunting dragons.
Can't be the otataral dragon as she's already pinned and has been for a loooong time.
Sorrit was murdered by the Edur.
The only other non-identified dragons were the three that Fiddler, Cutter etc. saw flying through the Azath.

Did he mention actually killing a dragon while he was on the hunt? Could be that he never found what he was looking for.

There's also the three unidentified dragons that Fiddler and co saw in Tremolor towards the end of DG. Plus the Galayn Lord in GotM was draconic, so we don't know how many other soletaken might be hanging around.

'dragons' plural tho.... could be a turn of phrase, maybe not.

'Hunting' can mean a lot of things - find, kill, capture, locate, have sex with (in Rake's case...)

- Abyss, so wants to see more of this character...

Maybe Silanah flew off in a huff before the start of MoI (explaining why she didn't appear in that book) after a tiff with Rake, and Rake sent Spinnock after her with some flowers and chocolates, or whatever dragons accept in lieu of flowers and chocolates.

Speaking of Silanah, does she ever appear in humanoid form? Is it ever mentioned if she can shapeshift at all? Because if so, Rake must only be getting giant-sized shapeshifted nookie...must really keep the other Andii awake at night. :)
I think malazan is a pretty cool guy. eh kills well-loved characters and doesn't afraid of anything.

Silanah is pure-blood eleint, I'm pretty sure.

Maybe, but

Also there is no mention of Spin actually fighting and/or killing a dragon, they merely talked.

I also love the certainty you have when it is indeed an ambiguous statement, and if anything "hunting" implies a negative tone to any would be confrontation.
