Malazan Empire: Soletaken, QB and stuff! - Malazan Empire

First of all, apologies if I should have posted this on an already existing thread. Perhaps a moderator can move it, or ban me, or whatever the correct approach is.

Now, it seems QB is without doubt a shapeshifter. Many people seem to think that Ben can shift into a snake. While I can certainly see advantages in assuming a snake form, the smallest soletaken form I remember is a giant bear. (D'ivers not counted of course.)

Is this correct? Are there any soletaken with smaller shapes?

Next, what does 'soletaken' mean? 'A single (extra form)taken', as opposed to the plural forms of d'ivers? Or, is the 'sole' referring to souls and soulshifting?

My own pet theory is that the soletaken to be kills (or bargains with) an animal and then does something nifty and voila! An alternate shape available!
