Morning all (at least where I am...).

As the description says this is probably RAFO, but I'm only 250 pages into DoD and it's killing me. Since I'm also terrified of spoilers I didn't want to browse the DoD forum for similar threads just yet.

The POV of the ghost and the line of people wandering in the desert, including Taxillian, Rautos, and the rest is annoying me because I feel like I should understand what's going on there. As far as I can surmise the group may be a fevered imagining of a schizophrenic (the ghost) and as such not happening at all, but I'm still wondering who the hell they are. Rautos is the former head of the Liberty Consign, and Taxillian is also a familiar name, but I can't for the life of me remember who he is/was. Nor can I remember what happened to them at the end of RG. The group have just arrived at the giant Dragontower-thingy, which I'm assuming is a KCCM structure, and found a way in.

If anyone can shed some light on what I should be remembering from the earlier books without bringing spolierific info I would greatly appreciate it. If it's RAFO than just say so, and I'll crawl back into my cave :p

Thanks!

Lets see if l can clear some things up for you.

Taxillian is a native from Seven City's that come back on the Edur fleet. He was on the same ship as Karsa and his pet witch. Rautos was the head of the Liberty Consign and was also trying to figure out the parts of the machine in his back yard. Both where killed when Icarium used the machine in letheres. Now just a last remember that machine was broken, and some thing went wrong involving their memories when they where killed in the blast of white light.

Now for the rest RAFO.

Aaaah, brilliant!

Now I'm thinking that the ghost is Icarium and that the machine malfunctioning sent these players to a warren (maybe Kaschan) since Icarium's machine apparently created/opened for a broken system of warrens on Lether. I'll just RAFO now, as soon as I'm home from work in any event.

Thanks!

From your first post, you are considerably more on top of this plot line than I was when I read it. I managed to cling on to it with my fingertips so you should do considerably better!

It will crystalise for you at the end, we can't tell you anymore without revealing too much, but you are pretty much on it. I got the same feeling when they were inside the dragontower thing which is indeed a KCCM structure, I think it will become clearer, but it won't be resolved till right at the end. Hold the thought you have and all should become clear.

If you still don't understand, then come back and ask one of us, I think we have it sussed!

There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

gotta say I really do not like that plot line--too much deus ex machina (pun intended) for me.

I liked it. It was like a microcosm of the series - starts out 'wtf?' and then slowly becomes clear as more details are added. I liked the way more hints were
added along the way to help identify all the people, until it dawns on you who they are... like Breath..and then it all becomes clear. (Well, mostly!)

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
