I'm pretty sure it is said in the books (more than one time) that every mortal soul will eventually walk through Hood's Gate. But what if a mortal ascends, like Kellandveld and Dancer? That means they are no longer mortal, but not that they cant die. will they also go through te gate when they die?
And how about the ones that end up within dragnipur?

there are several ways in which a person may put off walking through hoods gates indefinitely, such as ascension or being put into dragnipur (though i don't know anyone who would choose that) but anyone can die. if kellenved or cotillion got careless, someone could stab them in the back and they would walk through the gates. being ascended and gathering power to yourself just means that the knife in the back has to be deadlier. aside from the afterlife offered by hoods gates, it appears that souls can actually be completely destroyed by chaos as well. RAFO for more information.
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.
