Did anyone else notice this in their read through ?

Endest Silann : From the image of Andarist he next saw the knowing half-smile of Silchas Ruin – on the dawn when he walked to stand beside Scabandari, as if he knew what was to come, as if he was content with accepting all that followed – and doing so to spare his followers from a more immediate death – as Liosan legions ringed the horizon, soldiers singing that horrifying, haunting song, creating a music of heartbreaking beauty to announce their march to slaughter – sparing his people a more immediate death, granting them a few more days, perhaps weeks of existence, before the Edur turned on their wounded allies on some other world.

If it's been spoken of before and I missed it - then I apologise. :w00t:

Now I'm pretty sure they weren't mentioned in the Midnight Tides prologue and so I now gather that the talk of betrayal that the Andi, Edur etc were always banging on about, related to all three of the Tiste tribes and not just dark and shadow.

I'm just putting together a document for the wiki on the war and it's pretty interesting once you start piecing it together - makes the coming trilogy really mouthwatering in fact.

You mind giving a page number for the quote, Hetan? As obviously I seem to have completely missed those pages out! Although it does bring a new light to the passage by Hannan Mosag in either MT or RG (I suspect the later, but have neither present so...) where he says something along the lines of bringing the three Tiste races back together again to go to war against the CG. In fact given it's in the newly sanctified temple to SB must by in RG!

I think there were a couple of hints in HoC, MT and RG that there had been conflict between the Liosan and the Andii (the conflict between Edur and Andii was clear enough), but DoD was the first time it's actually stated that apparently the Liosan attacked the Andii at some point.

If the timeline is to be... right, anyways, it appears that there were the conflicts between Rake, Ruin, Darist and the other factions amongst the Andii, and that somewhere towards the end of that mess, which, iirc, it's suggested was resolved by Silch faking opposition to Rake, the Liosan came marching in.

Given what little we know of Liosan history, it appears that at some time way later they fought the FA and then went all isolationist in Kuralds Thyrllan or Liosan.

- Abyss, ...could be way off, of course.

Yes, I must say that the Liosan/Andii/Edur/FA wars are most intriguing.

Andii fight amongst themselves.
Edur fight amongst themselves.
Andii and Edur team up, get attacked by Liosan
Escape to new world.
Fight K'chain Che'malle
Edur betray Andii (somewhere in there, Endest must have left the forces of Silchas)
Mael, Killy and Gothos team up to beat down Scabby. Osserc thinks Rake would turn up.
Rake and Killy team up. Enter Shadow.
Fight feral and soletaken Eleint to let the broken Emurlahn go without a ruler, and die or heal in a natural way.
Loooooooooooooooong time passes.
Present day.

A really neat order.
