I have yet to read the new book yet as well. I just started reading through the series for the second time (haven't read all of the books in 7 years or so) and I'm wondering if it fits perfectly after Wizard and Glass or if I should wait to read it until I finish the first seven again.

I would say wedge it in after Wizard and Glass, for sure. It should fit beautifully.

And in fact, at the risk of taking it maybe a bit too far, I actually think that the book goes a long, long way towards more effectively bridging the first four volumes with the last three, not with any elaborate plot mechanisms, just in tone and feel.

How do you rape a cave? Do you ask, "You want to fuck, yes?" hear the echo come back, "Yes... es... es..." and get your barnacle-gouged groove on?

I've just got the Talisman for my kindle... as I read it about 25 years ago and I want to see what I think of it now. What is the link between this book and The Dark Tower series? Is it Jack/Jake?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I don't think there's much in Talisman. Just a couple small mentions of things.
I think where it takes place is mentioned in DT.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I think the link is more explicit in the sequel, Black House.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Only somewhat OT, any of y'all read Hearts in Atlantis? The first short story in that book, Low Men in Yellow Coats has super explicit DT connections. Also, I tend to think King's abilities shine most in his short stories.

I wholeheartedly agree. Hearts in Atlantis ist my favourite Stephen King book, particularly the story of the same name, where he really does shine.

For those interested, there was a Dark Tower themed t-shirt at Qwertee yesterday. One can still buy it today as a last chance shirt, here: http://www.qwertee.com/last-chance/
I think it looks cool.

For some reason I didn't think about posting the link yesterday already.
