So let me set a scene.

Our (the wife and I) bedroom is upstairs. the stairs lead directly into or room. Watched the movie a while back...oooo creepy, lol......but then we went to bed.

thud,thud,thud,thud.....silence
thud thud thud thud thud thud ....silence

My wifes breathing increases.

thud thud thud thud.....silence


So I get the kittens off the stairs and throw them out the door, and shut it....silence.....hours later, fall asleep, feeling my wife trembling a little.

Fucking terrifying.

I must admit the standing and staring part was really fucking creepy. But with the scare, well... I've never been haunted, nor has anyone I know, so we won't "catch" the haunt like in j-horrors... also, no small creepy girls.

Finally got around to watching it.

Decent level of scariness, but it didn't really affect me. I just didn't find it drew me in at all. Blair witch did for sure, but this one just didn't really get me going.

and the ending just didn't fit with the rest of the movie. It just felt like it was tacked on because they needed an ending, rather than coming up with a truly frightening way to end it.

I was expecting the blair witch type ending like

oh no don't go in the basement, oh shit no don't go in the basement you idiotic girl, you WENT in the BASEMENT i can't believe it , OH MY FREAKIN GOD THERE'S SOMEONE IN THE CORNER.........WHAT SMELLS LIKE SHIT, OH MY GOD I JUST SHIT MY PANTS IN FEAR!!!!


A couple of cops coming in and shooting her was dumb. I wanted a sweet exorcism.

They must show a different ending up in CA cause thats not what happened when i went and saw it. Thats supposed to be the ending they deleted, according to the interwebs.

Yup, I'm afraid you watched the shitty ending, CF. That was the original 2007 ending that never made it to wide release. If you've *ahem* acquired it from somewhere, try again if you want the 2009 ending :pirate:

The first one in your spoiler tag would have been way better...really both would have been better, but face morphing usually puts more fear-of-god into ye.

Oh, it was certainly entertaining. I was laughing at the lead male the entire time, thinking about the dumbass things people always do in horror movies, and what usually happens.

Sigh...I guess I'm too thick skinned for horror anymore. I wasn't impressed. And it didn't help that the entire last half of the film my wife kept saying "these idiots deserve to die and should just get on with it". I actually agreed. It would have been far scarier IMO if someone made a film where the characters being stalked/haunted acted in a normal fashion, and actually tried to be smart about things. That boyfriend was a complete ass, which ruined it for me.

That's kind of what I like about japanese horror films. People are just going about their lives in a normal way, and the evil finds them no matter what they might try to do. Being smart and still failing is much more entertaining than "So our two friends have axes in their heads, let's go check out what that noise was"

Thread Necro cause I don't think this requires a whole new thread.

But the trailer has come out for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 (done by the people who did CATFISH) and it looks like it concentrates on the whole family curse thing and has footage from Katie and Christie's youth and perhaps how the demon showed up to begin with. at any rate, I find these films interesting enough to keep watching cause they mostly work on scares and frights as opposed to gore....and I like that kind of scary movie that plays with your head.
